PAL ("Police Athletic League") is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of boys and girls, ages six through 18.  For nearly 70 years, PAL has been providing free educational, athletic, recreational and cultural after-school and summer programs in the safe environment of 25 youth centers. All PAL activities are supervised by full-time Philadelphia Police Officers providing a unique opportunity for strong and positive relationships among the youth, their communities and the Police Department. Based at PAL Headquarters, the Executive Director ("ED"), with oversight from the Board and working closely with the Commanding Officer, will ensure execution of the overall organizational vision, strategic direction, operations and fiscal policies to ensure successful fulfillment of PAL's mission.  He or she will be responsible for planning, oversight and direction of PAL's overall fundraising, volunteer management, programs, finance and technology efforts.  He or she will provide leadership and direction to two Directors and one Manager who oversee these functions.  The ED will work very closely with the PAL Board Chair as well as with the PAL Commanding Officer who oversees the police officers assigned to the Police PAL Unit as their full-time duty.  The ED is responsible for providing an environment in which all 12 full-time civilian staff work as a team with each other and with the PAL Police Unit toward achieving PAL's mission and organizational goals while creating a positive message about PAL in the community.
