Dear Fellow Pilot, It's been a while between issues of Flight Log but I guarantee it hasn't been due to lack of activity at Seattle Avionics. Quite the contrary, in fact.
We have a lot of news to share with you. But let's skip ahead to the best parts:
Black Friday (November 29) Every year, Seattle Avionics pulls out all the stops and, for one day, has a sale that makes everyone smile. FlyQ EFB, WingX, Aspen, Dynon, Voyager, ADS-B receivers. Do I have your attention? And that's just the beginning. This year, you're going to see offers that would make Ebenezer Scrooge dance a jig. But, as always, most of the offers are quantity-limited because madness only goes so far before the accountants step in and stop us. We very strongly urge you to follow us on Twitter so you'll be assured to get the deals on Friday morning.
Have an iPad? Expecting an iPad or ADS-B receiver under the tree?
This is Online Boot Camp week at Seattle Avionics and we're running a series of live Webinars all week that you can't miss. The first one, tomorrow (Tuesday) at 4 PM Pacific, is iPads in the Cockpit and covers everything including choosing an iPad, selecting apps, and picking ADS-B receivers. Given first at Oshkosh, it was standing room only at 8 AM and generated quite a stir. Now it's bigger and better than ever. Sign up now because space is very limited. Other Webinars include everything you need to know about ADS-B receivers (bet you don't know as much as you think you do!), and several presentations about AOPA FlyQ EFB
And much more. Read on!
Black Friday

Sure, you could wait in line to get your child or grandchild a new Xbox One or PlayStation 4 but isn't it time you get something you want?
Something that makes you safer and more confident in the air? Make the most of Black Friday (November 29) this year.
Starting at 12:00 midnight, we'll have offers that will knock your tip tanks off. Whatever you fly, we have something for you:
WingX, FlyQ EFB, Dynon (new), Aspen (new European coverage), Bendix-King, Dual and Sagetech Clarity ADS-B receivers, and something entirely new that you'll have to wait to find out about.
You'll see an email early on November 29th but we suggest you follow us on Twitter and keep your smartphone near the bed to make sure you get the deal you want (most offers are quantity-limited and we always hit our maximums).

AOPA FlyQ EFB
|
|
Designed and written by Seattle Avionics, FlyQ EFB for the iPad has an unbeaten 4.5 out of 5 star score and reviews so good my mother wouldn't have written them. In its first year, it has become one of the best selling, most talked-about EFB apps with its unique mix of simplicity and power. Split-screen, 3D synthetic vision, support for multiple ADS-B receivers, and much more. Haven't used it yet? 1. Sign-up for some Webinars this week. 2. Watch the videos. 3. Download a free trial. 4. Check your email on Black Friday for an incredible deal! Also, if you tried it previously but would like to try it again, just click here to try it for another 15 days. Email us if you have any questions. |

Online Boot Camp Week
| |
This is a very special week at Seattle Avionics. We believe a good pilot is always learning (I borrowed that from Jason Schappert at MzeroA) so all week we're doing multiple Webinars each day: iPads, Voyager, FlyQ EFB, ADS-B, etc. They're all free but you must sign up ahead of time as the technology limits the number of attendees. |
Click to sign-up. You may sign-up for as many as you like.

ChartData
|
|
If you've been a pilot for a while, you may remember buying printed books from Jeppesen. You may also remember 8 track tapes, The Gong Show, and rotary telephones. Today it's all digital and it's a good bet that you use ChartData from Seattle Avionics on at least one of your apps or devices. We began the year with Aspen, WingX, FlyQ EFB, myWingMan, Bendix-King AV8OR, Naviator, Sky Radar, and more. During 2013, we added Dynon and AvPlan, introduced European data for Aspen and myWingMan, and have a LOT more almost ready to announce. I'm mentioning this because of the ChartData specials we'll have on Black Friday. Follow us on Twitter to get in on the deal. |
Voyager for Windows
|
|
I have to admit it, we've been so busy expanding our ChartData offerings and fine-tuning AOPA FlyQ EFB that our Voyager for Windows application didn't get the attention it deserved.
Recently we began to rectify that with a new version compatible with Windows 8 / 8.1 that also fixed some problems induced by changes at DUAT and the FAA.
This new version is free for current subscribers.
Just fire-up Voyager and select Update Application from the Tools menu. Or download it by clicking here.

Flitesoft
|
|
One of the motivations for the new version of Voyager is our recent acquisition of certain assets from RMS, maker of the Flitesoft application for Windows. That's the lawyer-approved way to say that Neal at RMS decided to retire after 25 years and wanted to make sure his loyal customers were taken care of. He asked us to provide free Voyager subscriptions to his current subscribers. If you haven't heard of Flitesoft, I guarantee it nonetheless has influenced the flight software you use today. RMS pioneered many of the features we all take for granted and we all owe Neal and his team a debt that simply cannot be repaid. Hats off to you, Neal! Enjoy retirement. |
SocialFlight
|
|
Recently, a small company based in the Boston area turned a good idea into something that has literally changed the way thousands of pilots fly.
They produced a free app called SocialFlight that makes it easy for pilots and aviation enthusiasts to find local events, chat, upload photos and network with other pilots. The app even has an option for a Personalized Event Planner email that gives you a head's up each week about the aviation events you care about in your local area.
If you're looking for local fly-ins, pancake breakfasts, FAA seminars, and more -- give SocialFlight a try. It's free and may change the way you fly!
