I can't believe half of 2016 is almost gone! It's amazing how fast life flies by when you are immersed in researching, planning, auditioning, constructing, rehearsing, and performing in this wonderful world of performing arts. Then, of course, there is the fund raising, endless meetings, press releases, employee issues (good and bad), and budgets. Oy! Budgets! It's fairly easy to predict expenses, it's sticking to your spending plans which presents the challenge. Unforeseen issues pop up, and you get hit with added expense. However, the big fear of the unknown is predicting income. While understanding the Protestant Work Ethic and getting out there to chase after sponsorships, donations, ad sales, and the like, it's predicting ticket sales and how many patrons will support you with their time and money. We have been blessed these many years for we have built a formidable base of patrons, corporate sponsors, and families who recognize the value of our work and the sincerity of our efforts. The proof in the pudding was how loyal our patrons were as we worked for so many years in a less than ideal setting in our previous environs. The school board was and is so gracious and supportive with their investment in JPAS. They stood with us until the new JPAC finally came on line, and now, with this new gem to work in, you are proof of the old adage "Build it and they will come". We got it built and boy have you been coming. This current season which ends in two weeks, set all box office records, and with the announcement of our exciting 39th season coming soon, I predict even greater attendance.
Part of our outreach and service in the community is our Chrysalis Program. At every final rehearsal of a show, we invite members of the "special people" community to experience our productions at no charge. We currently serve groups like We Care, Girls Hope/Boys Hope, ARC, St. Michael's School, Magnolia School, and more. If you have a special needs member in your family or know of other similar folks, please call our office so we can share of love of the arts with them. Having a special child of my own (she's 40 now OY!), I know first hand the joy she experiences when she comes to our shows.
Keep reading please. Auditions are this weekend for the big three musicals. Dr. Butch Caire has a new piano gig at Andrea's Restaurant. Check him out and say hello to Maestro Andrea for me. World Class Pianist and native New Orleanian, Peter Collins, returns June 26 for his annual recital. Watch and listen as Peter ignites the keyboard with his virtuosity. Finally, get your tickets now for the amazing work of our Youth Musical Theatre Intensives.
Don't forget the American Military and please watch a show already in its third season (which I just discovered) called The Last Ship. It's a fun show watching a modern Navy Destroyer with all its cool gadgets and weaponry fight the Russians and just being good guys (rare in this time). America wins! How refreshing to see our great military portrayed heroically and truthfully for a change. God Bless them and our great Country.
See ya at The Theatre!
Sincerely,
Dennis G. Assaf

A lively stage adaptation of the Academy Award-winning 1994 Disney film, The Lion King, JR is the story of a young lion prince living in the flourishing African Pride Lands. Born into the royal family, precocious cub Simba spends his days exploring the sprawling savanna grasslands and idolizing his kingly father, Mufasa, while youthfully shirking the responsibility his position in life requires. When an unthinkable tragedy, orchestrated by Simba's wicked uncle, Scar, takes his father's life, Simba flees the Pride Lands, leaving his loss and the life he knew behind. Eventually companioned by two hilarious and unlikely friends, Simba starts anew. But when weight of responsibility and a desperate plea from the now ravaged Pride Lands come to find the adult prince, Simba must take on a formidable enemy, and fulfill his destiny to be king. A vibrant and exciting tale from the great creatives at Disney, The Lion King, JR is a story of love and redemption that nobody should miss.

The show's instantly recognizable songs are filled with humor, wit and sass - leaving cast members and audiences alike seeing pink!
Legally Blonde JR. follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. When Elle's high school boyfriend, Warner, dumps her and heads to Harvard, claiming she's not "serious" enough, Elle takes matters into her own hands, crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. Befriending classmate, Emmett, and spunky hairdresser, Paulette, along the way, Elle finds that books and looks aren't mutually exclusive. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes that law may be her natural calling after all.

Thank you for your support on GiveNola Day! ![GiveNola GiveNola](https://static.ctctcdn.com/ui/images1/s.gif)

We want to say "Thank You" for your perseverance.
We so appreciate your dedication to JPAS during the national technological meltdown that occurred as part of Give Local America. JPAS received 49 gifts totaling $6,380 through the Greater New Orleans Foundation and an additional five gifts through the JPAS web-site totaling $625 for a grand total of $7,005. We surpassed the support we received last year--this is extraordinary!
The majority of gifts JPAS received on GiveNOLA Day were given in the midst of a catastrophic national website collapse and completely jammed local phone lines. Additionally, even in the middle of technological malfunction, 30% of the gifts JPAS received were from new friends-individuals that had not previously participated in GiveNOLA Day. Your persistence is an extraordinary testament to your belief in the work JPAS does in the community. You truly are JPAS Champions. Focusing on a National Day of Giving is a remarkable concept-the idea that on one day, all over the United State, everyone everywhere is being encouraged to reflect on the important work nonprofits do in the community AND contribute to that work. And, you, friends are remarkable people-your dedication makes the work in the community we do possible.
