Thirty-seven years ago, a wonderful lady, the Postmaster of Metairie, listened to the dreams of an ambitious young conductor who wanted to see that Jefferson Parish would join the list of enlightened communities and BUILD A PERFORMING ARTS CENTER!!! Hannah Cunningham turned 100 years young on Monday, February 9th and is still passionate about JPAS to which she has been so instrumental in leading. Happy Birthday Hannah, and I know a grateful Jefferson Parish joins me in thanking you for your devotion to the arts and that new theatre we devoted so much to. I can't wait for you to witness our first production. I am praying it's finished soon. God Bless you my dearest of friends.

We are still buzzing from an amazing 12 performance run of Ain't Got No Home which enjoyed 98% capacity with 11 performances SOLD OUT! What a testament to Dr. Butch Caire's clever writing, stage direction and music arranging of the coolest music ever to bubble up from an American City! No city in America can boast the likes of Ernie K-Doe, Irma Thomas, Frogman Henry, Fats Domino and scores more. And so many of these artists are showcased in this production and the first installment - Blueberry Hill.  This overwhelming audience response has prompted us to offer a third installment this summer to the Blueberry Hill saga, and Dr. Caire is already creating it. Watch for the entire Blueberry Hill Trilogy to happen this summer. So if you missed Blueberry Hill and Ain't Got No Home, you can catch up and be ready for #3. Watch for details.

I want to recognize Maestra Diane Carney and congratulate her for winning two Big Easy Classical Awards recently. We are proud and honored to work alongside this most gifted and gracious artist. See more below. Congratulations Diane! Well deserved and overdue.

In England they have a show called No Sex Please, We're British. Now doesn't that paint a picture in your mind? So you won't want to miss the American version, the outrageous comedy Sex Please, We're Sixty. See below. And with "Uncle" Wayne Daigrepont putting his own hilarious twist on comedy, you'll want to get your tickets early.

Still no final word on move in date for the new JPAC, but I can taste it. Keep praying, and when you see, me don't ask me. I don't know the answer, but it's coming. I promise.

I saw the movie American Sniper and read the book. Seems so trivial to discuss the arts and entertainment when heroes like Chris Kyle are out there pulling multiple tours in hell to protect America's interest and our way of life. What a great life we enjoy here thanks to our brave men and women in uniform! Please don't forget them nor forget to thank and honor them. God Bless America and our heroes in uniform.

See you at The Theatre!

Sincerely,

Sex Please, We're SixtySexPlease

Mrs. Stancliffe's Rose Cottage Bed & Breakfast has been successful for many years. Guests (nearly all women) return year after year.  Her next-door neighbor, the silver-tongued Bud Davis believes that they return to spend time with "Bud the Stud" in romantic liaisons.  The prim and proper Mrs. Stancliffe, of course, steadfastly denies this. Her other neighbor, Henry Mitchell, a retired chemist, has developed a little blue pill patented under the name "Venusia" after Venus, the goddess of love, to increase the libido in menopausal women, specifically Mrs. Stancliffe.  The only problem is he doesn't know if it works or not. Bud inadvertently gets his hands on some of the "Venusia" pills and the fun begins as the guests arrive.

2015 Theatre Kids Competition Team Fundraiser Benefits Team Gleason

The members of the 2014-2015 JPAS Theatre Kids Competition Team elected to raise money for Team Gleason this year.  Team Gleason is a Foundation that raises money for ALS research. They raised $255.11 in a "Penny War", collecting loose change for the cause. They proved that a little spare change can go a long way!

Thank you to Gerald Duhon, a representative from Team Gleason, for attending rehearsal.

The Competition Team will travel to Orlando, FL in February to compete in the National Performing Arts Festival. The team also performs at various functions for JPAS and in the community throughout the season.

 Captain Louie Jr.

CAPTAIN LOUIE JR, spins a tale of young Louie, the new kid in town who feels lonely and friendless after his family moves to a new neighborhood.  Looking for something to cheer himself up on Halloween, Louie takes an imaginary journey to visit his old neighborhood friends on the wings of his favorite toy, his little red plane.  The story of little Captain Louie is full of tricks and treats, as well as the incomparable music and lyrics of Stephen Schwartz.  Most of all, CAPTAIN LOUIE JR is about friendship, the ability to make new friends as well as the importance of old ones.

Music and Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz.
Book by Anthony Stein.
Based on the book "The Trip" by Ezra Jack Keats.
Directed by Ryan Nocito.

 The Lady With
All The Answers

"Dear Ann Landers" . . . For decades, renowned advice columnist Ann Landers answered countless letters from lovelorn teens, confused couples, and a multitude of others in need of advice.  No topic was off-limits, including nude housekeeping, sex in a motorcycle helmet, the proper was to hang toilet paper, sibling rivalries, addiction, religion, and wandering spouses.  Landers regaled her readers with direct, insightful, and often humorously honest responses.  Late on a 1975 night in Landers' Chicago apartment, an ironic twist of events confronts her with a looming deadline for a column dealing with a new kind of heartbreak: her own.  As she shares her struggles to complete the column with us, we learn as much about ourselves as we do about the wise, funny, no-nonsense woman whose daily dialogue with America helped shape the social and sexual landscapes of the last half century.

Directed by "Uncle" Wayne Daigrepont.
Starring Janet Shea.
