Greetings Valued Patron!

The dog days of summer are winding down, but not for JPAS. This weekend we close our latest season of fantastic Summer Youth Musical Intensives with our production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Jr. Seventy young, aspiring actors and actresses have been working hard polishing their roles and are so ready for you.  These kids are our future performers, audience members, sponsors, corporate and hopefully elected officials. We need more political and corporate leaders who have first hand experience in the arts. For when they assume positions of power and authority, they will be more aware and keenly sensitive to the need for investment in the arts. In the future, it won't be such a struggle to get support from these children who have been immersed in our programs. In addition, the greatest by-products of these Summer experiences are increased self-confidence and a heightened awareness of teamwork, need for concentration, study and dedication to the finished product. They may not be aware of it now, but they are also making friends and memories that will last a lifetime. Such is the power of the performing arts!

Next week we host Jonathan Mares Production's in their offering of The Fourposter at Teatro Wego!  See below. What makes this so special to me is that Jonathan is a young man who got his training as a "JPAS Baby". He had numerous lead roles in these same Summer Intensives and sang in our Children's Choruses years ago.  We are most proud of him and the role that we have played in his artistic development.

So there you have it. Two different shows on two consecutive weekends in two different theatres. One by current "JPAS babies" the other by a graduate of these same JPAS Programs.  Did I mention how proud I am of JPAS and these kids? You bet!

Don't forget to thank someone in uniform for their service to our country, our safety and our freedom. They will thank you for your gesture of kindness.

See You At The Theatre!

Sincerely,
Dennis Signature

In New York City in 1922, young Millie Dillmount has just moved to the big city in search of a new life for herself. It's a New York full of intrigue and jazz - in a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever.

Filled with fun flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady of a villainess audiences will love to hate, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE JR. is a perfectly-constructed evening of madcap merriment. Based on the popular movie, the stage version of includes a full score of new songs and bright dance numbers. With the role of Millie Dillmount, musical theatre has found a new heroine for the ages in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE JR.!

The Fourposter written by Jan De Hartog.  Joel Derby and Julie Roundtree star in this moving chronicle of a husband and wife from their wedding night in 1890 until they leave the house that has been their home, 35 years later. They fret and quarrel, laugh, cry, and make love in the same room in which they began their married life. And standing throughout the evening is the old fourposter, silent witness to all.
