Letter from the Superior General
The massacre of the hostages in Dhaka and of the Hindu priest in Satkhira causes us great sadness and concern. The brutal violence with which these people (including even a pregnant woman) were murdered fills our heart with repugnance and grief. Let us pray for the victims who died and for their families in their indelible sorrow, asking the Lord that we may never lose hope, or our desire to commit ourselves to remove all iniquitous hatred from the world.
In Bangladesh we have confreres who work and proclaim the Gospel. We are close to them in these times of great trepidation. May the Lord protect them. We advise them to exercise great prudence and hope that they feel the support of our prayers and fraternity.
In other parts of the world too our confreres are surrounded by danger, for example, in North Cameroon, Chad and Mozambique.
All of them are in our prayers: may our anxiety for their safety soon become a certainty that peace has returned and that all can continue to work serenely.
May each community find time to pray for these intentions, asking the intercession of our Founder.
