Sharing Thailand's Story
From Thailand, the youngest mission country of our missionary family, we would like to share you our story. We believe that we are drawing a story of being a community of Jesus' disciples with the people where we have been sent as missionaries and with you to whom this story is told. People whom you find in the following pictures are indeed the actors of this incredible story. We, as missionaries, would be better to be called the story-tellers. We are working in the area where the ethnic minority groups are extremely present. The bishop of Nakonshawan Diocese has asked our community to take care of a parish mostly dominated by Akha Tribe. Most of them migrated from Chiangrai Province where their ancestors went to settle after many years of migration from Burma and southern-China, their homeland. In the pictures you will see our wooden church, both exterior and interior; the Akha people in their traditional dress, a dance performed by the Akha teenagers and some pictures taken during the feast of the parish. Our parish is named after St. Joseph the worker. A Thai priest who once had pioneered the catholic presence among them, has chosen such a name as he discovered that the Akha people are hard-working people. Most of them work as farmers. The parish now is served by three Xaverian missionaries from three different countries: Father Thierry from Cameroon (the parish priest), Fr. Mathia from Italy and Fr. Tardelly from Indonesia. ~ Fr. Refugee Awareness
International Refugee Day
In a world where violence forces hundreds of families to flee each day, the UN Refugee Agency believes now is the time to show world leaders that the global public stands with refugees, and it launched its #WithRefugees petition on June 20th to send a message to governments that they must work together and do their fair share for refugees. Reason Rally for Us All
Dialogue is a deeply human response to secular bashing and religious bashing. It is a more thoughtful and profound way that transcends our hurt and anger, our ignorance and stereotyping that is not looking for a winner, who is right, and who is wrong, but what we hold together, our common ground.
