Pope Francis: Mission makes the Church

On June 4th Pope Francis met with National Directors of the Pontifical Missionary Societies and those who work with the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples...He expressed his gratitude for the work of the PMU, entrusting its service to the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of the Missions; to Saints Peter and Paul, to Saint Guido Maria Conforti, and to Blessed Paolo Manna. Xaverians in Thailand

St. Joseph the Worker Parish,Poppra - Tak,Tailand

I live in the northwest part of the country on the border with Myanmar (once called Burma) in our new parish of St. Joseph the Worker in the town of Poppra - Tak. I live with Fr. Giovanni Mattiazi, an Italian and Fr. Thierry Kemgne, a Camerounian. We are working together even if we have our particular pastoral roles. Father Thierry, as parish priest, takes care of the parish and the parishioners who are mostly from Akha tribe. Father Matteazi, while helping the parish, has a special pastoral outreach with the Burmese refugees in Umphiang. After my arrival three months ago, the community asked me to begin the activity in the farthest district of our parish, in the border with Myanmar. I've just introduced a mission awareness program in two government schools. I named the program after the UN program, "Global Citizenship." This is one of the ways to get connected with the young people who are mostly Buddhists and non-Catholics. I am also teaching English and Humanities in those schools.
