AN ENDLESS DESIRE TO SHOW MERCY
"Mercy is the very foundation of the Church's life. All of her pastoral activity should be caught up in the tenderness she makes present to believers; nothing in her preaching and in her witness to the world can be lacking in mercy. The Church's very credibility is seen in how she shows merciful and compassionate love. The Church "has an endless desire to show mercy." ~ Pope Francis, Misericordiae Vultus

Xaverian Charism and Social Media
Perhaps the first of its kind in the century-long history of the Congregation, "Xaverian Charism and Social Media," a special conference on social media communications, was held by the Xaverian Missionaries in Tavernerio Italy, from January 17 to 30, 2016. The Superior General of the Institute, Father Luigi Menegazzo SX, opened the event with these remarks: "We will focus on the world of social media to understand its utility, to assess the great opportunities that are offered to us, and to learn how to use social media in order to live our charism fully today." Xaverians look the world of social media as not only a new frontier of communication but also of in terms of their animation and missionary activity. Fr. Rocco Puopolo SX (above, left) from the US Province and Fr. Patrick Duffy SX (above, right) from the UK Province, participated in the conference and posted daily updates on their Facebook pages. Sustained Conversations Change Us
There is a deep desire among diverse people to connect with each other in meaningful ways that transcend surface stereotypes. I am amazed how some people with such different worldviews actively seek each other out, particularly online. In a hyper-differentiated world where diversity and pluralism seems threatening to so many, here we have a cadre of people who wish to honor that plurality by exploring its meaning through dialogue. How A Young Filmmaker Seeks To Encourage Environmental Protection
It is easy to feel completely overwhelmed when it comes to conservation and "saving the planet." There are a myriad of issues, from marine debris to palm oil production, the illegal pet trade, logging, and desertification. It can be tempting to brush the unseen aside and forget about it; to allow someone else, more experienced and with a greater understanding, to tackle it. But this practice is wrong. Every single person on this planet has a role to play when it comes to protecting the natural world. Learn more.
