October is Mission Month
World Mission Sunday 2015 (October 18) takes place in the context of the Year of Consecrated Life, which provides a further stimulus for prayer and reflection. For if every baptized person is called to bear witness to the Lord Jesus by proclaiming the faith received as a gift, this is especially so for each consecrated man and woman. There is a clear connection between consecrated life and mission. Read the Pope's message here.

Participants at the Voice of the Poor Conference

Hello there! With another academic year beginning we are in full flow over here in the Conforti Institute. Our work with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul's youth organiser Clare Carr through The Voice of the Poor conferences have been a great success. Hugh, John and Jim are continuing their Prison Spirituality courses and hosted a weekend for prison mentor volunteers. And on top of all that we are hosting Gen Verde, the international all women band
who is performing in the dioceses of Motherwell and Glasgow.
Needless to say, things are speeding up in October, the Month of Mission and our diaries are getting fuller! We hope that you are having as creative and fulfilling time as we are here, till next month!

What Makes Us Human?
What is it that makes us human? Is it that we love, that we fight? That we laugh? Cry? Our curiosity? The quest for discovery?
Driven by these questions, filmmaker and artist Yann Arthus-Bertrand spent three years collecting real-life stories from 2,000 women and men in 60 countries. Working with a dedicated team of translators, journalists and cameramen, Yann captures deeply personal and emotional accounts of topics that unite us all; struggles with poverty, war, homophobia, and the future of our planet mixed with moments of love and happiness. Catholic Youth Ministry Project

Around 350 pupils from Motherwell Diocese were urged to seek the person of Jesus as they began a Caritas journey of Faith in Motherwell's Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral.
The pupils were taking part in a commissioning service that marked their entry into the Caritas Award given by the Scottish Catholic Education Service (SCES) which encourages pupils in their final year of school to help out in their parishes and communities, volunteering in care homes and homeless shelters, assisting lay groups such as the Society of St Vincent de Paul and learning about their faith.
