Georgette's Gossip

Georgette

Hello 2013, all eyes are on the new year.
I am sharing photos from our holiday week and wishes sent to me in a New Year's card from the Inn's staff. Here are the greetings: Have a wonderful happy, healthy wealthy new year. Cheers to another year. Best
wishes for a beautiful year. With love, peace and gratitude. All the best, Hazel- Tov.
Yes, Hazel Tov, to friends, family, one and all.

Happiness is
Bobbi and Joe are toasting the New Year. Hurricane Sandy whacked their lovely home, antique car and boat, but they were unhurt. So cheers to a beautiful couple who take life, port by port, as a glorious adventure.

Gregori's
Joe and Sue were married at the Inn just over twenty years ago. They still hold hands and have a honeymoon glow. In fact Joe reports every year he is even more in love. Ah, all is well. Mark that A+ on the Wilburton marriage report card.
Bonnie and MumBonnie and Mom
This is Bonnie my daughter- in - law and her mum Andrea. Andrea is from Manchester, England.  My husband calls her the governess because just like Mary Poppins, she rules the grandchildren. It must be that English accent.

Christe, the Christmas Elf
Pennoyers
Christie, on the left with her daughters Molly and Francis, is tiny but mighty. Each year she rallies her friends and family for their annual Christmas holiday at the Inn. My special responsibility is to do the snow dance so that there will be excellent ski conditions. This year I did a great job. Step, hop, snow.
Dancing Boots
Boots
Wow, wow wow.  These guys have very responsible jobs for New York State. They work hard and  then party. When they come to the Inn, we know that the good times are rolling.
Best Dressed, Best Dinner
Diners
This handsome couple came to the Inn for New Year's Eve. Here they are enjoying a champagne dinner. As she smiles to the camera, he is thinking- I am such a lucky guy. I like it.
History

The Inn's mansion was designed as a showcase flaunting the best materials and newest architectural styles. The family's dining room was designed in the Arts and Crafts style with flat oak mantel around the tiled fireplace. it is the inn's only public room with oak rather than mahogany as the primary wood. So there, now you know.
Greetings!

Smile- Josh
Chef
This smiling fellow is Chef Josh. He is a graduate of the French Culinary Institute, where Chef Didier taught. Josh was the executive chef at the Hermitage Inn before starting his own restaurant in PA. Here are two of Josh's entrees, poached lobster in saffron butter and vegetarian stuffed red pepper. I am Josh's official dessert taster: brandy bread pudding with apple compote, chocolate lava cake with raspberries and ice cream, maple creme brulee. Hey it is a hard job, but someone has to volunteer.

Our Mates from Down Under
Australians
In December, it can be 95 degrees in Brisbane, Australia so the Kendall family decided to treat themselves to a snowy Manchester Christmas vacation: shopping, snow boarding, over eating, relaxing by the fireplace, enjoying a good book, visiting Hildene, and back to the stores.  It took them 2 days of air travel to get to Manchester. So where are the guests from New Jersey?

Peter, Peter, Peter
Peter
This handsome happy fellow is Peter. He is a three for oner. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Peter is our hands on man working on the kitchen line and in the dining room. He is also a mean weed whacker. That is the way of Inns. If you don't do windows, don't apply.

Max and Caryn
KarMax  The Inn is a family affair. Here are Max and Caryn posing with  a basket of Oliver's artisan bread. Caryn and her sister Jill are part of the dining room team. Max, our son, is part of the everything team. Need more hangars, need ice, , problem in the bathroom, need a babysitter----Oh Max, can you do me a little favor ....
