EducationPlus Names New Chief Academic Officer

Dr. Jennifer Tiller will join EducationPlus as Chief Academic Officer on July 1. Tiller has served the educational community for nineteen years as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and director in the Fort Zumwalt, Francis Howell, Lindbergh and Pattonville school districts respectively. She received her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from St. Louis University, M.A. in School Administration from Lindenwood University and B.S. in Education from the University of Central Missouri. Additionally, she serves as an adjunct professor in the administration program at Lindenwood University.
    
Make Connections with the Distance Learning Academy

 

This summer's Distance Learning Academy will teach educators how to take their students to far-off places through e-learning, online projects and videoconferencing using tools like Polycom, Cisco, Skype, Google Hangout and LifeSize. Participants will also learn

how to effectively use other collaborative technologies such as Google Apps, blogs, wikis and social media.  

 

The three-day academy takes place June 24, 25 and 27 at EducationPlus.  With your registration you will also receive:

  • Attendance at one day of the METC Conference 2015;
  • Access to EducationPlus staff to schedule and support distance learning opportunities;
  • Access to e-learning platforms to be used for participant online portal/courses;
  • Professional development for the e-learning platforms; and

Learn how Local High Schools have Improved Dropout Rates

Join area educators March 13 to discuss effective and intentional strategies to keep students in school in "If You Create It, They Will Stay!".  Educators from three high schools that have made significant improvement in their dropout and graduation rates will share what they've done, along with the data that backs up their success.  The St. Louis area is lagging behind other parts of Missouri in both dropout and graduation rates, and this full-day of best practices and strategies can help any school.  Members of the EducationPlus learning team will also talk about strategies that can work for your school.  The cost to attend is $20 for a full day, including lunch.  For more and to register click here. 

ARCHS' Spring 2014 Institute

The ARCHS' Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) Institute for Early Childhood and Youth Development Professionals is April 5 at Harris-Stowe State University. Sessions include "Creating STEAM with Digital Media," "Hands-On Digital Tools for Developing Early Number Sense" and "Online Learning and Collaboration Using Google," which will all be presented by EducationPlus learning team members.  Other experts from across the region will also present during the day-long event.  The $45 registration fee includes materials, lunch and up to six clock hours. Jennings School District Hosts Educator's Institute
   
The Educator's Institute is a conference empowering educators with strategies to eliminate achievement gaps and transform schools. Jennings School District invites other educators to join in high energy workshops while visiting an urban college prep environment that is transforming education in its community. The pre-conference gala on April 3 will feature student musical performances at the Blanche Touhill Performing Arts Center on the campus of University of Missouri-St. Louis. The April 4 sessions include:
  • Observing an early childhood teacher use technology and a hands-on phonics process that ensures early strong readers are developed in  kindergarten through 2nd grade; 
  • Visiting the only urban public college prep academy in St. Louis County and learning how the principal transformed the school culture; and
  • Attending STEM classes that incorporate Project Lead the Way in an urban setting in middle and high school.
