   Volume One Number One
Tying It All Together

Welcome to the first edition of CSD's new e-newsletter,
Programs & Services. We hope that you will take the time to read the stories featured here, and link back to our web site for more details.

Programs & Services will feature highlights from across our organization, including the Learning Division, Business Services, legislative advocacy and much more. We hope it provides you good insight into what CSD is doing for education in our region.

We are starting this new e-newsletter in an effort to reduce the number of individual emails coming out of CSD and into your inbox. On occasion you may still get time-sensitive messages, but we are working collaboratively to focus on this communication. Much of the focus of our newly adopted strategic plan is on serving districts better and providing you what you need, and we hope that Programs & Services will be part of that.

The Network was created to help states build a system of career pathways that enable all young people to successfully transition from high school through a post-secondary credential of high skills and family-supporting careers. Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis is serving as the regional intermediary and fiscal agent for the project, and hosts an event Friday, February 8th with Harvard Graduate School of Education's Dr. Bob Schwartz and Ursula Renold, the past Director of the Swiss Federal Office for Professional Education.

Employees Benefit from CSD Trust

The CSD Retirement Trust is continuing to grow, with the addition of Dallas County School District in central Missouri and Harrisonville of the Kansas City area.

Participation in the Trust is already having a significant positive impact on these districts' employees. Harrisonville doubled and Dallas County quadrupled their number of employees participating in retirement plans.  The one-on-one advisor sessions with Trust partner VALIC representatives are helping employees improve their retirement readiness.

If you'd like to find out what kind of impact Trust membership could have on your district and employees, contact Chief Financial Officer Scott Tate at (314) 692-1270 or state@csd.org.
