"I AM no longer anxious about finances. God is my sufficiency in all things. The spirit of honesty, promptness, efficiency, and order is now expressed in me and in all that I do. I AM free from all limitation of mortal thought about quantities and values. The superabundance of riches of the Christ Mind is now mine, and I AM prospered in all my ways." Chas. Fillmore, "Prosperity"
Obviously, the above quote is specifically addressing anxiety about our finances, but we can substitute anything into this context of release. Whenever we are anxious, we are perpetuating the belief in separation. When we are anxious about finances, we are actually affirming power in lack. When we worry about our health, we are affirming power in illness. Worry is faith turned toward negativity.
We are, though the Law of Mind Action and cause and effect, ALWAYS engaged in the creative process that Life is. "I create my experiences through the activity of my mind" is one of our Five Unity Principles. These laws and principles are always in effect, whether we are consciously engaged or not. My usual example is of gravity; it will keep you safely and reliably in your chair whether you think about it or not. And, if you step off the edge of the Grand Canyon, it will deliver you promptly to the bottom, whether you "believe in it" or not.
When we recognize that an area of our life is not working the way we would prefer, it is important to admit that and accept that we are where we are, in our human behavior. It is important to be willing to explore what we can do differently as we move forward. The intentional creative process begins in the void of chaos and darkness, and the first step as we actively engage this process is "Let there be Light". Rather than look at our situation as a bad thing, more evidence of our fumbling incompetence, we could choose to exercise our power and authority to name things and be thankful. We could choose to be appreciative and claim the blessing of this precious moment of awareness. We could opt not to curse the darkness, but to bless and claim the Light of spiritual understanding which has awakened us to this opportunity for spiritual growth.
Following spiritual understanding, our next two steps in the process are Faith and Imagination. Again - if you are fearful or experiencing anxiety, you are already utilizing your faculties of faith and imagination, you are just using them in a manner which is counter-productive. Imagine how your life might flow from a consciousness of the abundance of Good. How would it feel to live each day knowing all your needs were met? Do you really believe that there is only One Power, One Presence active in your life and in All Life? Do you believe that it is possible to live Life free from financial worry? in optimal health? in loving relationships? with satisfying work? If you believe it is possible, that is your mustard seed of faith. Bless it! Bless that belief in possibility, and imagine what this Good would feel like in your life. Imagine and feel this possibility take form within consciousness.
Learn to recognize what the seed of anxiety feels like in you. Are you cringing a bit when you check your mail, hoping there are no bills? When you pay your expenses, do you find yourself thinking that things shouldn't cost so much? Do you find yourself resenting someone every time their name comes up? Perhaps you ran into them at the movies and found you couldn't enjoy the show because you kept thinking about their presence. Are you beginning to obsess about a physical symptom? Are you "awful-izing" something in your life? Focusing on the bad which could arise from some circumstance?
Every time you notice fear or anxiety arise, remember that you are at a very important choice point. You can appreciate this moment of clarity and awareness, and choose to redirect your thoughts to the All-Sufficiency of Source. This practice will facilitate the release of anxiety, as well as strengthen your faith in Good. Or - you can continue to focus your faith on negativity.
Every time you recognize fear or anxiety, release it through gentle denial and strong affirmation, as in Fillmore's example above. Give thanks for the opportunity to re-write the story of your life. Each moment of awareness is another new beginning. The process of creating the experience of your life is always unfolding. It is your choice where the path leads. Choose wisely.
