". . .true education is the process of waking up to life and releasing the effusion of light

[Eric Butterworth, In the Flow of Life 68]

Those of you who have taken classes already know that facilitating classes is just about my favorite thing to do. Of course, I enjoy Sundays... but the conversation is quite one-sided on that day of the week. During classes, I get to hear your voices and learn from your wisdom, as well.

Sometime about 30 years ago, I decided to visit the then-smallish Seattle Church of Religious Science (Religious Science and Science of Mind now use the name Centers for Spiritual Living). I'd begun studying Theosophy, Buddhism, and New Thought years before when I was in college, but work, parenthood, and "real life" put my spiritual interests squarely on the back burner. We attended Sunday services for awhile, and I took a few classes, but after awhile I once again put my spiritual quest to the side.

Around 15 years ago I took my first Unity SEE (Spiritual Education and Enrichment) class. Barbara Richman (who currently serves our kids in Sunday school) was my teacher, and the class was Lessons in Truth. I took another class, and another, then another. I wish I could say that I realized then and there where my path was heading, but nothing could be further from the truth. I began to notice positive changes in my life. As a bonus, in addition to making sense of my spiritual journey, I met someone in one of those classes who remains my friend to this day, and we've enjoyed monthly lunch dates ever since.

Through classes, I began to understand how our spiritual tools work. When the 4T Prosperity program was offered, I took a great big deep breath and began tithing. I learned how important it is to honor Spirit as the primary focus of life, even though my hands were literally shaking as I wrote those first tithe checks. Classes not only taught me how to transform my life, but gave me tools to cope with the sometimes-difficult changes inherent in transformation.

Spiritual education classes provide a space for us to ask questions and to share the wisdom of our hearts. We practice what it means to practice. We come together to learn, and find our hearts opening. We have our light-bulb moments, we give and receive support, we laugh (a lot!) and sometimes we share tears, too. Classes allow us to get to know each other as we also get to know ourselves. Really, it's all about learning to "seek first the kingdom". And as we do that, we find that everything is truly made new... especially our lives.

The Light I AM recognizes, blesses, and honors the Light You Are-

Namaskar-  Blessings, Rev. Nita

 CLASSES RESUME May 7th

Classes are an opportunity to expand your spiritual understanding, get to know your fellow travelers along the spiritual path, and deepen your spiritual practice. We talk, discuss, pray, meditate, and laugh a LOT as we learn!

Life of Prayer:
How to Pray Without Talking to God
Wednesdays, 5/7 - 6/4
10:30am - 12:30pm

A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose
(by Eckhart Tolle)
Saturdays, 5/10 - 6/7
10:00am - 12:00noon

The Five Principles
 Thursday evenings 5/8 - 6/5
6:30-8:30pm

Rev. Nita will facilitate each of these classes. If the traditional language of prayer is difficult for you, join us for a fresh new look at prayer on Wednesday mornings. You may be wonderfully surprised at the difference learning to speak your own heart's dialect will make in your spiritual understanding.

On Thursday evenings, its back to basics. What are Unity's core principles? Actually, they're not "Unity" principles, they are Universal spiritual principles which are applicable to everyone, whether they "believe" in them or not, and whether they have even heard of Unity or not. This is how Life works! Doesn't it make sense to learn what Spiritual Laws are and how to work with them, and not against them?

On Saturdays, we'll re-visit Eckhart Tolle's modern spiritual classic. His insights around the working of the human ego are quite helpful- and quite aligned with Unity co-founder Charles Fillmore's ideas about the need to "spiritualize" our ego. Go ahead and start reading the first couple of chapters!

SEE (Spiritual Education and Enrichment) classes are offered on a love offering basis, and EVERYONE is welcome to attend. Books are available on Amazon.com or abe.com if you prefer to buy recycled books. A few copies will be available for purchase in class. For those who are interested in credentialing as Unity teachers or ministers, Unity Institute credit is available for each of these classes. If you've got any questions, just hit the "reply" button on this email and ask.
