Pick one thing. Just one thing. Of all of the possibilities of expressing the Christ you are, pick one. You don't need to do everything all at once. But pick one thing and commit to doing it, every day and every time you can. It's great if you meditate AND use affirmations AND practice gratitude AND watch your language. But just doing one thing can make an amazing difference, not just for you, but for others as well.
Use your imagination for a few minutes and just play along with me here... Imagine that you're in the grocery store, it's the end of a long day, and just like everyone else in line, you just want to pay for your groceries and get home. Behind you, a parent is running late, trying to get groceries to have dinner ready so that their child can get to the school talent show on time. Their child has been practicing for months, and tonight's the big night. This whole day has felt like one long conspiracy against them: the road construction on every major crosstown road, the meeting where they were blamed them for the failure of a major project, and on through the rest of the day, till right now, with lines stretching forever and only two checkout stations open.

They're frazzled and exhausted, already too late to get their child fed and to the event on time. Every bit of evidence in their life supports the illusion of victimhood. By the time they get home, the child will be crying from nerves, upset that there's no way they will get there in time, blaming the parent. The parent, with their own stretched nerves, will likely yell back... "If you knew what kind of day I've had trying to get you to that stupid talent show! You don't appreciate how hard I work and I've got no desire to listen to you blame and complain...." They don't really mean it, they really do love their kid. But its been a long, hard day. They've done their best, and - yet again - their best apparently just isn't quite good enough.
I've been this parent; haven't you? Maybe you're not a parent, but at some point haven't you been trying to do something nice, something good, and had it seem like everything was against you? It's not a fun thing.
So... let's get back to you and your spiritual journey. You don't know any of this story. You're just standing there in line waiting to buy your groceries. You do know that something within you is calling you to express more of the Christ you are. Perhaps, during our focus on the Lenten journey, you resonated with the practice of Patience. Remembering that, you decide to offer the person behind you your space in line as a way of practicing patience. The person is surprised, and accepts your offer.
In this moment in time, because of your decision to express the Christ in you as patience, their story of victimhood and helplessness is unexpectedly short-circuited. Maybe they smile as they thank you, and perhaps this is the first genuine smile they've smiled all day. At this very moment, their phone rings... it's their child at home, crying and upset that they'll be late. With this smile still on their lips, they say, "It's okay, honey, I'm on my way. Go ahead and pour yourself a bowl of cereal - we'll stop for a snack after your show, and I'll fix something healthier tomorrow. We'll get there in plenty of time...." You notice them smiling again, saying, "I love you, sweetie..." before hanging up.
You will rarely, if ever, know how your choice to practice one little moment of patience could forever change the trajectory of someone else's life, but do you see now how it could? Every choice we make is important, and we don't ever truly know the full impact of our choices. So pick one. Pick one spiritual practice and DO IT.
Meditate every day. Speak affirmations and denials. Smile at a stranger each day. Practice gratitude. Change your music. Write a thank you note each day to someone you appreciate. Set an alert on your phone and pause to breathe into your heart every four hours. Breathe deeply and begin tithing. Silently honor the Christ within each person you pass in traffic. Read one chapter in a spiritually nourishing book each day. Be vigilant in your use of I AM statements. Stop complaining. Pick something, anything. Just pick one spiritual practice and DO IT. You never know; that "one thing" may seem small to you, but it has the potential to change everything.
The Light I AM recognizes, blesses, and honors the Light You Are-

We talk, discuss, pray, meditate, and laugh a LOT as we learn! Life of Prayer:
How to Pray Without Talking to God Wednesdays, 5/7 - 6/4 10:30am - 12:30pm A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose (by Eckhart Tolle) Saturdays, 5/10 - 6/7 10:00am - 12:00noon The Five Principles
Thursday evenings 5/8 - 6/5
6:30-8:30pm
Rev. Nita will facilitate each of these classes. If the traditional language of prayer is difficult for you, join us for a fresh new look at prayer on Wednesday mornings. You may be wonderfully surprised at the difference learning to speak your own heart's dialect will make in your spiritual understanding. On Thursday evenings, its back to basics. What are Unity's core principles? Actually, they're not "Unity" principles, they are Universal spiritual principles which are applicable to everyone, whether they "believe" in them or not, and whether they have even heard of Unity or not. This is how Life works! Doesn't it make sense to learn what Spiritual Laws are and how to work with them, and not against them?
On Saturdays, we'll re-visit Eckhart Tolle's modern spiritual classic. His insights around the working of the human ego are quite helpful- and quite aligned with Unity co-founder Charles Fillmore's ideas about the need to "spiritualize" our ego. SEE (Spiritual Education and Enrichment) classes are offered on a love offering basis, and EVERYONE is welcome to attend. Books are available on Amazon.com or abe.com if you prefer to buy recycled books. A few copies will be available for purchase in class. For those who are interested in credentialing as Unity teachers or ministers, Unity Institute credit is available for each of these classes. If you've got any questions, just hit the "reply" button on this email and ask.
