Today each student will receive a Muirlands Rocks information flyer with a free ticket. Event admission is FREE -- Tickets are for booths, games, snacks and the opportunity drawing. Additional tickets can be purchased online (the more ticket you buy, the better the deal!) or at the event this Sunday. |

Your Help Needed THIS WEEK to Prepare for the Annual Art Exhibition (at Muirlands Rocks this Year)
NO Experience Needed, Just Willing Hands
Parent help is needed for Muirlands Annual Art Exhibition!!! You do NOT need to be "creative". Please contact me if you can get involved in any of the following ways: - Prep artworks (mount/mat works or attach name cards) now-April 29th anytime during school hours
- Help hang artwork Friday, April 29th (anytime 7:45-3:00)
- Help pop (we'll need muscles) and then prep Art Tent on field before show (on display at Muirlands Rocks), Sunday May 1st from 11:00-1:30.
- Help take down tent and/or move show onto campus after Muirlands Rocks, Sunday May 1st from 5:30-6:45 (we'll need muscles)
- Simple flower arrangement(s) for show.

Progress Reporting Period Ends This Friday, April 29th
Progress Reports Sent Home May 6th
 This Friday, April 29th is the end of the P4 progressing reporting period. You and your child should take advantage of PowerSchool Parent Portal to monitor performance on an ongoing basis so there are no report card surprises. If your child's grades need improvement: - Please consider contacting your child's counselor for additional advice or strategies.
- Muirlands offers After School Homework Help on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and a late bus that leaves at 3:40 p.m. so all students can take advantage of this extra time on task.
- In addition, many teachers host small group tutoring and support in their classrooms during certain lunchtimes and by appointment.

College is for Me Conference Saturday, April 30th, 9am-1pm, CSU San Marcos The Early Assessment Program (EAP) at CSU San Marcos is proud to announce the first annual, "College Is For Me" Conference.
This conference is scheduled for Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 9 am to 1 pm and is for middle & high school students and their families. It is an opportunity for people who have not considered college to learn how higher education can be a means for self-empowerment. Topics:
- What college/higher education can do for you
- How to get into college
- How to pay for college/higher education
- Connections to make in college/higher education
- The college experience student panel
- Community organization and higher education fair.

Student Leadership Opportunity for Current 6th & 7th Graders Applications Due by Monday, May 11th
Link Crew is a volunteer student ambassador group that provides school tours, runs information booths and helps incoming families at Muirlands Orientation Day on August 23, 2016 - the week before school starts. IMPORTANT INFORMATION about the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony!
The Muirlands 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will be on Tuesday, June 21, 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the La Jolla High School (LJHS) Gymnasium. PLEASE NOTE: Due to construction on the stadium, promotion will be held in the LJHS Gymnasium this year and seating will be limited. Each qualified 8th grade student will receive three (3) guest tickets. Students who will not use all three tickets can give their "extras" to peers/families in need of additional tickets or turn them into the Front Office for others to use. We will do our best to accommodate all requests. PLEASE CLICK HERE for additional information.

La ceremonia de promoción del 8º grado de Muirlands será el martes, 21 de junio de
8: 30 a.m. a 9: 30a.m. en el Gimnasio de la Escuela Preparatoria La Jolla. NOTA: Debido a la construcción en el estadio de La Jolla High School (LJHS), y para minimizar los gastos, la promoción se llevará a cabo en el Gimnasio de LJHS este año. Por lo cual, los asientos serán limitados. Por favor, tenga en cuenta que la ceremonia de promoción sera solo una hora.
Cada estudiante elegible del octavo grado recibirán tres (3) boletos para familia. Entendemos que quisieran tener amigos en asístencia para celebrar su hijo y familia. Los estudiantes que no van a utilizar los tres boletos pueden donar sus "extras" a sus compañeros / familias en necesidad de boletos adicionales. A lo contrario, los boletos que no se utilizen se deben entregar a la Oficina Escolar. - Overseer for annual Foundation iMovie video (created by student volunteers)

- 8th Grade Promotion helper (a role for 6th or 7th grade parents)

Welcome Event for 8th Grade Students and Families Wednesday, May 18th, 6pm, LJHS The LJHS PTA invites you to attend the annual Welcome to LJHS event on Wednesday, May 18th at 6 p.m. This informational evening will be outside, on the green, in front of the school office at LJHS. On Saturday, May 7th at 3pm there will be a Crime Scene Science workshop. Students (and their parents) can learn powerful molecular techniques for solving crimes using DNA. Click here to sign up.
