FREE Events at the La Jolla Riford Library:

- Design Your First Project for the 3D Printer! 3pm on Thursday March 17th.
Through hands-on learning projects and design challenges, students will learn how to create forms in a 3D modeling environment. From here, we will work with the 3D printers to understand how the machine functions and walk through the workflow for setting up a print. We'll learn how to use the slicer, the software that communicates information to the 3D printer, how to load the filament, trouble-shoot the process, and get a print going. Because of class size, we cannot promise to print everyone's file in the same session, but you can always bring it back and print now that you know how to!

This course is designed for students interested in making things, whether those things are artistic or technical. Newcomers and enthusiasts are welcome -- this class is beginner-friendly, and students with previous experience will be given more challenging projects.

- Gene transplant workshop. Saturday March 19th at 3pm. Click here to sign up.

Have you ever wondered how scientists can move a gene from one organism to another? In this hands on workshop we will give bacteria a gene from jellyfish which will make the bacteria glow!

There are many more free events at our public libraries!
