Sign Up With Science Teachers for this After School Workshop BEFORE Nov. 5th. Workshop is Nov. 12th, 2:10-3:30pm

In this hands-on workshop, participants will play microbe detective to reveal the unseen life in soil and discover microbes that can enable farmers to feed a growing global population. Guided by microbial scientists from Monsanto's San Diego Research Center and armed with a laboratory worksheet to record their findings, students will grow microbes found in Muirlands soil, observe different shapes and sizes of microbes through the microscope, and preserve microbes in a biobank through freezing. Students will also practice with a model DNA sequencer and learn how researchers use DNA to identify species.  The workshop will be held after school from 2:10 - 3:30 on Thursday, Nov. 12, in Room 403.  It's free and all Muirlands students are invited.  Sign up with your Science teacher BEFORE NOV. 5th to reserve your spot!
