Look for a manila envelope coming home today with your child. It contains back-to-school paperwork and your child's school planner. Please sign and return all paperwork by this Friday. - Visit and bookmark our Foundation website: www.muirlandsfoundation.org

Sign up for PowerSchool Parent Portal to check your child's grades online. Pick up your access code in the school office (ID required). Click here to learn more. - Attend Principal Klein's scheduled Principal's Chats to learn more about what's happening at MMS. The first Principal's Chat will be Friday Oct. 9th, 9-10am.

Thank You to our Back-to-School Volunteers!
A big thank you to everyone who helped get our school year off to a great start, including: Volunteers who helped during Orientation Day, especially Jean Kim, Rachel Kim and Julie MacDonald who coordinated this effort.  Student Link Crew who gave campus tours during Sign Up/ Orientation Day and assisted students on the first day of school.
Parents and students who prepared the back-to-school paperwork packets that will be sent home with your child today.

Need PE Clothes?    PE clothes will be available for sale at the office window during the following times: - 7:00-7:30am: Wed., Thur. & Fri.
- 2:00-3:00pm: Tues., Wed. & Thurs.
You may also purchase the items online ( click here and scroll to the bottom) and pick them up at the office window during the above hours. Please bring your itemized receipt. Volunteers are needed this week right before & after school to help sell/distribute PE clothes. Please click here to sign up for a slot. Thank you!
(Purchases are not required. Alternative uniforms will be explained in class by your child's PE teacher).

Muirlands Science Olympiad Club
Information Meeting Tues., Sept. 15th, 5:30pm Auditorium
Click here for our website.Science Olympiad brings science to life with hands-on challenges that encourage problem-solving, teamwork and learning! The Muirlands Science Olympiad Club will prepare our students to participate in a San Diego competition on Feb, 6, 2016.
Parents and students are encouraged to attend our Information Meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 15th at 5:30 in the Muirlands auditorium. Please visit our Muirlands Science Olympiad Club website to learn more, register your student, and/or to volunteer.
PARENTS, please consider coaching an event. The more coaches we have, the more children we can accommodate and the more events we can enter. We are also looking for a Science Olympiad co-chair to work with head coach Laura Jackson. If you are interested, please contact Laura at lauriuxj@yahoo.com.

School Picture Day Wednesday, Sept. 16th
An order form will be sent home with all students, to be returned on Picture Day with payment, OR parents may choose to order online.

- Order and print the receipt for your child to give to the photographer on Picture Day.

MMS Foundation Meeting Thursday, Sept. 17th, 1:00-2:15pm, Library Please join us for our 1st Muirlands Foundation meeting of the school year on Thursday Sept. 17th, from 1:00-2:15pm in the Library.

After School Care: Prime Time
PRIME TIME is a free after school program run by the YMCA but located on campus. Students complete homework and then participate in a variety of fun enrichment activities. Click here for general information about the program.
An application (English / Spanish) must be completed before a child can participate in the program.
**NOTE** Your child can still sign up for after-school clubs and/or classes if he/she is enrolled in Prime Time.

After School Classes are offered through outside vendors for a fee. Parents sign up and pay the vendors directly. Click here for more information about classes currently offered, including:

- Yoga & Mindfulness
School Clubs are teacher run groups that meet during lunch or after school, and are offered at no cost. Club information will be posted to the Muirlands Middle School website soon. Please stay tuned.

 Volunteer Opportunities!
Be a part of Muirlands Middle School's volunteer community. It's fun and rewarding (and studies show that children of parents who volunteer at their school do better)!
We have all kinds of jobs, big and small -- there's bound to be something that meets your time schedule and interests. Here are some of our 'beginning of school' needs:

- Click here (female volunteers) to help with lockers and logistics in girls PE classes. (Boys PE has a retired teacher who assists).

MMS Library News Library Volunteer Orientation is Tues., Sept. 29th, 9:00am, LibraryStudents love our Muirlands Library! New library volunteers, please join us for a brief orientation meeting on Tuesday, September 29th at 9:00 am in the Library. Click here to RSVP for the orientation. From the Health Office
We are ready to welcome the students to the Health Office! Hygiene is always important, but especially at the beginning of the school-year with so much people-contact, so try to increase hand-washing.
A few things on our 'Wish List':
- Individually wrapped healthy snacks: i.e.: Granola Bars, Crackers, Cheese, jerky, seaweed, trail mix (big hit last year), fruit gummies,...
- Throat Lozenges (cough drops)
- Junior strength Tylenol, Motrin and Benadryl
- Kleenex
- Disinfectant Wipes
- Toothbrushes, toothpaste and mouthwash
- Spray deodorant
- Feminine products (including some underwear and socks)
- Creams/Body Lotion in the girl's bathroom is always welcomed

October 10th & 11th, Girard Avenue
The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival returns to the heart of La Jolla Village on October 10 & 11. The 2-day festival spans over a half mile on Girard Ave. with over 150 world-class artists, non-stop live entertainment, family art center where kids paint a car, silent auction, gourmet food court, a wine & beer garden featuring local brews and coastal wineries and a late night Brew Fest. This FREE event has raised over $500K to support our schools!
