Workshop Descriptions

Leading Change at the Congregational Level
Presenters: The Rev. David Marshall and the Rev. Mark McKone-Sweet
Join us as we explore moving from the mindset of "no" to "Yes, Lord!" We will identify key obstacles to change and brainstorm ways to circumvent them. This workshop will help congregational leaders focus on bringing the good news to as many people as possible instead of focusing on church attendance. Come prepared to walk away with tangible ideas you can implement immediately.

Serving on a Vestry Really Can Deepen Your Spiritual Life
Presenter: The Rev. Canon Allisyn Thomas, canon to the ordinary
Serving on a vestry is a tremendous honor and a wonderful way to serve your parish and the church's mission. And it can also be time-consuming, a little dull at times, or even disheartening. This workshop will explore ways in which serving on the vestry can, perhaps, not only enhance one's spiritual life, but add spiritual vitality to the body, while at the same time being realistic about vestry responsibilities.

Moving Back Into the Neighborhood
Presenters: Clayton and Jessica Connolly
Join Clay and Jessica Connolly as they share stories of spiritual journeying in Ocean Beach where they have lived as missionaries for the past six years. The community of Ocean Beach is their congregation which they approach with an intentionally missional approach. They care for people through incarnational presence, prayer, spiritual readings and deep care. Participants will come away with a sense of how they can apply the Connolly's methods in their own communities. Come, hear their grassroots approach to mission work and be inspired to move back into your own neighborhood with the love of Christ to share.
