Happy New Year! I attended a wonderful icon writing retreat this month. It was a contemplative time but I am behind in my work as a result. Here is a picture of the icon I wrote (painted). 

I know you are all busy prepping for your annual meetings. I pray that your budget has come together and that you have an excellent slate of vestry candidates. Let me know the email addresses of new wardens, treasurers and vestry members so they can start receiving this newsletter.

Treasurer's Tips of the Month
1099s are due January 31 to independent contractors that you paid more than $600 to last year. Employee W2s are due by the same date.

If you take youth on trips, a waiver is required. Click here for a sample form.
HR Tip of the Month
Lay pension percent for school employees working more than 1000 hours per year increased beginning January 1, 2016. The current percent required is a 3% base plus a 2% match.
LA2016Leadership Academy
Come to St. Bartholomew's, Poway on Saturday, February 20. We have rich offerings of fifteen workshops plus a plenary with the Rt. Rev. Mary Gray-Reeves, bishop of El Camino Real. Some of the offerings include:

  • Human Resource Management
  • Parochial Report (how-to)
  • Property Maintenance (use, energy savings, solar)

Audit Workbooks

We are scheduled to send out the audit workbooks for 2015 the first week of February. Be sure to open it to review the guidelines so you can plan for the necessary type of audit. We have identified congregations that are due for a diocesan review and will let you know soon.
