UPDATES on the BUILD the SERVING CHURCH CAMPAIGN
BSC

Backpack Benefits: Debby Park, volunteer from St. David's, San Diego, helps a young student with his new backpack. Over 350 backpacks full of school supplies were given to children from low-income families at the Diocesan Service Coalition's Back 2 School Bash. Students also received socks, shoes, and underwear. Over 100 volunteers from 20 different churches supported the event.

Thank You for Your Continued Generosity
Thank you for your continued support of the Build the Serving Church capital campaign. The campaign concluded last February with a grand total of $2,685,340.14. The outstanding pledges currently total $394,870.75. We wanted to let you know what a difference your gift is making at the Episcopal Church Center. We offer services to those in need in the Ocean Beach community including:
  • Wednesday evening community dinners
  • Free medical clinic on Wednesdays and Saturdays
  • Emergency food pantry on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings
  • Job Help
  • ID Assistance
  • Music and art programs for homeless teens
We have also witnessed a growing Diocesan Service Coalition that recently pulled off not one, but two, Back 2 School Bash events. Children from low-income families received backpacks full of new school supplies, new shoes, haircuts, family photographs, a hot lunch and the knowledge that someone cares about them. Many thanks to St. Mark's, City Heights and St. John's, Fallbrook for hosting these events.

Servant's Stoop: Sharon Kay of St. Alban's, El Cajon gets on her knees to help a student find the best fitting shoes.

Your gift empowers the congregations of our diocese to reach those who are hurting in our communities and to shine the light of Christ every way they can. Thank you for your continued support.
