Sometimes it is hard to remember that church finance and administration is linked to the mission of the church. There are days when I am buried in numbers or contracts and wonder whether I am advancing God's mission in any real way. I then remember that administration is key to turning vision into reality. So for those of you that finance and administration is a full-time job -- thank you for using your gifts in this way. And for those of you who are involved in the practical side of the church as one of many functions you fulfill, remember that this is part of the nuts and bolts of ministry.

Have a wonderful last two weeks of Lent and an amazing Easter,

Canon Julie Young

Leadership
Leadership Academy: May 2
It's time to register for Leadership Academy on Saturday, May 2 at St. Bartholomew's, Poway! We are excited about the breadth and depth of this year's workshops. It looks like we are going to have a record turnout for the event so please register now!

We will begin the day with a plenary session presented by Mr. Jerry Jellison, diocesan consultant on change management. He will discuss adaptive change in the diocese and share his exciting ideas.

In the finance and administration track, the morning workshop will cover "what you need to know" for wardens and vestries including fiduciary, financial and risk management responsibilities. Also offered in the morning is a workshop on the nuts and bolts of audits. Session 2 will present church finance /admin and human resource management. The third session will focus on more specific topics and will include buildings and grounds and schools.

Special Schools Workshop
While we welcome all to the finance and admin workshops, I encourage churches with preschools to make sure someone from your church is attending schools workshop in Session 3. We are fortunate to have Jenny Smith from Vista's thriving preschool present on mission and marketing in a changing environment.
