Cultivating a Contemplative Ecology in Advent: Seeing Nature, and Ourselves in Nature, Healed and Whole Forever
For ancient Christians such a way of seeing naturally accompanied their commitment to God's incarnation in Christ. What attitudes and practices obscure this vision today, and which ones bring it into focus? And what roles do the cross of Christ and our contrition play in the process? Answering these questions will lead to Christian spiritual resources for addressing today's ecological crises.

Advent, like Lent, traditionally is a season of repentance. Today its weeks'-long approach to Christmas is filled with delight and the expectation of all kinds of good things. But Advent also has become a struggle with materialism and consumerism. Therefore, what better time than now to foster a contemplative ecology, one that teaches ways to behold created things in relation to each other, and to their Creator, and changes beholders and their actions in the process?
