Afternoon Tea & Evensong 

high teaPlease join us for afternoon tea that begins at 3 p.m. Afterward, the All Souls' choir will sing as we celebrate the feast day of St. Luke, Sunday, October 13 at the Episcopal Church Center, 2083 Sunset Cliffs Blvd., San Diego, 92107. Young Adult Service Project
All young adults (20s and 30s) are invited to a service project on Saturday, October 12, 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. at St. Peter's, Del Mar. We invite you to bake cookies for inmates. Kairos, the prison ministry, will distribute them later this month. While the cookies bake, we'll hang out, play games and taste test! All are welcome! For more information, contact Rebecca Gantzer
 
Ordinations

Your presence and prayers are requested for two upcoming ordinations. On Saturday, October 19 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Cathedral, the Rev. Colin Mathewson and the Rev. Laurel Mathewson will be ordained to the priesthood. On Saturday, November 9 at 10 a.m. at Christ Church, Coronado, the Rev. Michael Stone will be ordained to the priesthood. Luncheon to follow. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

All Saints' Day Service
Saturday, October 26 at All Saints' Cemetery, 200 Peyri Road, Oceanside, 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Bishop Mathes will preside over this annual service honoring all the saints. All welcome.
 
Safeguarding God's People
This one-day workshop is required for all clergy and some lay leaders; it teaches how exploitation and harassment occur, the awareness we need to prevent such occurrences, and - should exploitation or harassment occur - how to respond. $35 per person; includes lunch and materials. 40TH ANNUAL DIOCESAN CONVENTION
Register for Diocesan Convention

DioCon14 Logo$65 Convention registration is available until October 31. All are encouraged to register early for both convention and the gala dinner. The dinner, which occurs on Friday, February 21, serves as the capital campaign kick-off event. While the cost of dinner has been covered by generous campaign donors, you must register online, print your ticket and bring it with you in order to be admitted. Early Registration: $65 until October 31; Registration: $75 until December 31; Late Registration: $95 until February 15 REGISTER HERE

Christmas Wreath Fundraiser 

Beautiful holiday decorations,
made by the youth of the diocese. We will make the wreaths on Saturday, 
Dec. 7 and deliver them to your church on Sunday, Dec. 8. Ask the youth in your congregation when they'll be available for pick up or schedule a pick up with them. Donations are $25 a wreath and all proceeds support diocesan youth ministries for Happening scholarships. An anonymous donor has generously stepped up and offered to match, dollar-for-dollar, every gift to Dorcas House from now until Tuesday, October 15. Chanting-Prayer and Community Breakfast
Saturday, October 19 at 8:20 a.m. With the chapel at St. Paul's Cathedral closed for renovation, the Lauds chanting group this month has moved to the Little Monastery of the Way, home of the Episcopal solitary Benedictine nun, Sister Karla Maria. We'll chant in the chapel and enjoy a simple, warm breakfast and fellowship immediately following. For those planning to attend St. Paul's for the ordination of the Mathewsons at 10 a.m., we'll finish breakfast by 9:30; St. Paul's is less than 15 minutes away. Come to listen or join in the chanting of a form of morning prayer. Lauds is a quietly beautiful and peaceful ancient monastic office (prayer service) sung in the morning. Please RSVP to Sr. Karla Maria, 858-277-7543, who will reply with the address, directions, and parking information. 
 
Alzheimer's Forum at St. Bartholomew's
The health and wellness committee of St. Bartholomew's, Poway announces a mini-seminar on Alzheimer's disease on Sunday, October 27, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Holly Pobst, gerontologist and certified administrator for residential care facilities for the elderly, will lead the discussion. She is an expert on aging issues and has worked with elderly clients in senior care for over 20 years. Holly will discuss the ten signs of dementia and early detection. All are welcome.
 
Putt-Putt Palooza
This miniature golf tournament is open to all members of the diocese. Proceeds purchase new shoes for school children in Rancho Penasquitos. Sponsored by St. Timothy's Episcopal Church. Pie & Coffee Tutoring Fundraiser
