FINANCE & ADMIN NEWS
FROM THE EPISCOPAL DIOCESE OF SAN DIEGO
Stewardship Season

Dear Colleagues,

Where has the summer gone? While many of you are enjoying a well-earned summer vacation, I suspect that just as many of you are getting ready for fall and all that it brings -- the start of a new program year, Sunday school, and stewardship planning. I am gearing up for the budget process and the diocesan report (similar to the parochial report), which is due September 1.

This month's newsletter includes resources to help you with your stewardship campaign planning. I hope you and your congregation will take advantage of the information that is available to maximize the possibility of a vibrant and successful campaign. I draw your attention to the announcement of the stewardship workshop on September 28 at Good Samaritan.

Hope to see you all at the Health and Wellness Summit on August 27!

Health and Peace,
Julie Young

The Medical Trust will provide important notices to our members to help them understand their rights under the law. This PDF packet contains these notices, has been mailed to all members enrolled in our plans. As a participating employer in The Medical Trust plans, you also have an obligation to provide certain notices to your employees, even to those who do not enroll in the plans. As such, they ask that you provide these same notices to employees who become eligible to participate in the Medical Trust plans, even if they opt out of coverage. In the future, The Medical Trust will ask you to certify that these notices have been provided to eligible employees in order to ensure that the relevant legal obligations are satisfied. In addition to the PDF referenced above, these individual notices will be posted on the CPG website for your reference.

Health Care Reform/Affordable Care Act (ACA)

International Travel Insurance
Traveling outside the U.S. with your congregation? Protect your church with international travel insurance

If your congregation is planning a church-related or mission trip outside the U.S., consider that our health care and workers' compensation plans are not designed to protect travelers against overseas problems or emergencies; neither are liability claims brought outside the U.S. covered by our policies. There is a solution. The Church Insurance Agency Corporation (CIAC) offers the ACE Internal Advantage program. This plan bundles different coverages within a single policy. Included are: general liability, commercial auto liability, employers liability, executive assistance services, international medical and accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and kidnap and extortion coverage. This coverage is reasonably priced based on the number of travel days and the number of travelers. It is a minor expense compared to paying for a major medical issue in a foreign or a medical evacuation flight back to the United States. For more information contact CIAC representative, Gail Graham, 800-293-3525. Click here to read about how international travel insurance protects churches.
