God, when the thought of you
wakes in our hearts,
let its awakening
not be like a startled bird
that flies about in fear.
Instead, let it be like a child
waking from sleep
with a heavenly smile.
~ Soren Kierkegaard

Misson Share Pledges Due November 15 Thank you to the congregations that have already sent in their mission share pledges! All clergy in charge of congregations received letters and pledge forms the first week of October. This year's deadline is Nov. 15 since the diocesan budget is slated to be approved at the Dec. 8 meeting of Executive Council. The diocese plans to provide even greater resources to our churches next year, including: - Evangelism: Evangelism-in-a-Kit rollout; Welcoming Newcomers class; creation of a diocesan personal evangelism plan
- Conflict Resolution: conflict resolution training programs and mediation for congregations in conflict
- Formation: School for Ministry launch
- Financial Administration and Communication: continued trainings, consultations and audits
- Human Resources: job descriptions, letters of offer, personnel handbook templates, employment law training and compliance
- Transitional Ministries: consultants to a record number of congregations
This work is not possible without the mission share pledges of the congregations. Please consider increasing your percentage of giving to the diocese. The bishop or a member of the budget committee or executive council is happy to meet with your vestry or bishop's committee to share these plans in greater detail. Contact Canon for Finance and Diocesan Treasurer Julie Young for more information. |
