Alumni eNews - Fall 2013
Message from our Alumni Chair

CKS welcomed a new Director of Development to the faculty team this summer. Dawn M. Stark comes to CKS with experience in educational institutions and nonprofit organizations.  Most recently, she served as Director of Development at CURE Childhood Cancer and also brings experience from St. Martin's Episcopal School and Mustard Seed Communities.

I have met with Dawn several times, and we're thrilled to have her as part of the CKS community.  I hope you will get an opportunity to meet and work with her soon.

Thank You for Making 75 to Thrive a Huge Success for CKS

Thanks to many of you, the CKS Endowment fund has surpassed $1.89 million dollars.  CKS added 90 donors during the 75 to Thrive Campaign.

Our goal this year is to build on that momentum and surpass the $2 million dollar mark by June 30th. So far, we have raised more than $30,000 for the fund.

Thank you to Krista Cosgrove and the Endowment Council for their volunteer leadership of this effort.

Please consider a gift to the Endowment Fund to support the next 75 years of CKS!

Congratulations to Margaret Berg
2nd Grade teacher and CKS Alumnus Margaret Berg recently got engaged to Scott Chalkley. Scott and Margaret met the summer of 2010 when her friend Mallory set them up. Margaret says they are big foodies and love cooking together. Scott's work recently landed him a position in Miami, Florida, and an open date on the Cathedral calendar prompted their upcoming November nuptials. CKS wishes Margaret the best of luck as she moves to Miami to start her life with Scott as Mrs. Chalkley.

Welcome Future CKS Lion
Pre-First teacher Ashley Carter and her husband Michael welcomed their sweet baby girl, Mary Gaines on September 2nd.  Their bundle of joy weighed in at 9 lbs 4 ounces and was 22 3/4 inches long.

Eagle Rank Earned
Recently, two CKS students, now at St. Pius X, earned their Boy Scout Eagle Rank. Congratulations to Phillip Davignon and Joe Mohr. Phillip's project added seating to Little Nancy Creek Park. Joe's project included installing a retaining wall, gravel patio and widening the trail in order to preserve the trail for future years!

Rock for Owen 3- Huge Success

Owen Stokes passed away in 2007, just two months before he was to begin Kindergarten at Christ the King School (CKS). In order to help keep Owen's precious memory alive, the Stokes family established scholarships in his name at CKS and St. Pius X Catholic High School.

Rock for Owen 3 drew a crowd of more than 390 people and raised more than $10,000!! Thanks to all the CKS family and friends who came out to support this great cause.  Congrats to the Stokes family on their efforts.
