 Message from our Alumni Chair
Thanks to everyone who came to our Taste of CKS party on October 6. It was great to see so many familiar faces! And thank you to all the alums that provided the delicious food. Please mark your calendars now for the annual Pack the House event which will take place on Friday, February 24. We would love to see lots of alums there! Rock for Owen - A Tribute to Owen Stokes
East Andrews Cafe Saturday, November 5 6 - 9pm
Join us for Rock for Owen, a tribute to Owen Stokes, son of Laura Preston Stokes (CKS '84). The event will feature Second Verse, a band of CKS alums and current students that we featured in our last Alumni eNews, as well as local performers My Favorite Baldwin. All are welcome...kids, too!
Owen passed away four years ago, just two months before he was to begin Kindergarten at Christ the King School. In order to help keep Owen's angelic memory alive, the Stokes family established a scholarship in his name at CKS. Like Owen, the recipient must be a Kindergarten boy who demonstrates a passion for reading, sports and arts-and-crafts. The recipient must also be kind, well-mannered, good at sharing and always ready to do the right thing. All proceeds from this event will fund the Owen Stokes Scholarship Fund and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Click here for more details about the event and ways to support.
$10 suggested cover charge plus a raffle & t-shirts for purchase.

She has three children - a son in his 20's, and two daughters, 19 and 11. The event kicked off in Notre Dame Stadium on a Friday evening, where teams walked throughout the night. A number of CKS families generously supported the team. He'll be covering the women's basketball team as they make a run for the national championship.

In memoriam...
We are saddened to announce the deaths of the following members of our Christ the King School community:
Joseph Mitchell (CKS '49) Peggy Hynes (CKS '57)
Father, we come to you in the name of your son, Jesus. We pray for the repose of the souls of Joseph and Peggy. May their families be comforted by your love and by their faith in you. Do you have old yearbooks or photos?
We need them!
As plans are coming together for the celebration of the 75th year of both Christ the King Cathedral and School, we're looking for any old photos or yearbooks that you might have in your attic or storage space. We're especially desperate for the "lost years" between 1960 and 1980 when yearbooks don't seem to have been printed and photos are scarce! If you can help, please contact Melissa Porter at mporter@christking.org. We'll be more than happy to return any items that are shared with us, or add them to our alumni archives if you approve.

Where are they now?
Sister Eileen Murray
Former CKS science teacher Eileen Murray celebrated her 70th Jubilee as a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart this past summer. The occasion included one surprise from an old friend. The very touching story of their reunion highlights the fruits of many years of service and the impact of her work many, many years ago. Click here to read the article from The Georgia Bulletin.

Michael Murray on the Case!
We couldn't resist sharing this funny story from Michael Murray, our Class of 1975 Alumni Rep. Michael has been a true Sherlock Holmes when it comes to hunting down his classmates, finding current contact information for all but a few. He was even able to have dinner with Patricia Monteleagre Hoyos while on a business trip to Bogota, Colombia (see the class notes above). Having dinner wasn't the funny part though. It's the sampling of comments that Michael was sure that he'd get from his family after we posted this update. Here are but a few... "Michael, now I now what you do when you travel..." "Michael, what in the heck are you doing on company time meeting up with old girlfriends?" "Michael, you travel how far to meet up with CKS folks?" "Michael, does your wife, Jenny (CKS '75), know you took a former female classmate to dinner alone?!"** **For the record, yes, she did!

 New Alumni Reps
Keeping alumni involved is important to the vitality of our school, so each year members of the eighth grade are given the opportunity to apply for the position of Alumni Rep for their graduating class. These representatives facilitate the link between alumni and CKS after graduation by organizing reunions, sending news to their former classmates and being an overall ambassador for the school. At a school mass in September, Alumni Chair Kelly Cambias Miles (CKS '82) introduced Stephanie Giralt and Joe Reigner as the Alumni Reps for the Class of 2012.
