You are not alone, with the recession and new job market it may take a little longer to secure the right career opportunity.

Here are some tips and strategies: 1) Upgrade your technology skills. "Statistics show that it is imperative that the older worker update their technology skills to include social media platforms and office applications".  2) Utilize free online training sites and you tube videos to learn new skills; 3) Attend conferences and educational events to build your network of contacts and 4)  Utilize LinkedIn to research companies and understand the work culture of employment prospects. Here is great article:

WOMEN'S ENTREPRENERSHIP
A GROWING TREND

Based on the American Express  2013 report, in 2013 Atlanta ranked number seven in the top ten for the highest number of Women Owned Businesses.  Women are looking at entrepreneurship and contracting as a viable
career option when faced with unemployment.

The changing workforce is also hiring women to be Independent Contractors and temporary workers.  Independent Contractors is also considered a form of entrepreneurship due to the fact that as a contractor you have the responsibility of filing your taxes and setting up a business infrastructure.

There are also opportunities for entrepreneurs to become  subcontractors to large prime contractors.
