    Flashdance the Musical

    The Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center will be hosting the pop culture phenomenon of FLASHDANCE on stage this weekend. The musical tells the inspiring and unforgettable story of Alex Owens, a Pittsburgh steel mill welder by day and a bar dancer by night with dreams of one day becoming a professional performer. When romance with her steel mill boss threatens to complicate her ambitions, Alex learns the meaning of love and its power to fuel the pursuit of her dream.

    The musical features the biggest hit songs from the movie, including the Academy Award-winning title song "Flashdance - What a Feeling," "Maniac," "Gloria," "Manhunt," and "I Love Rock & Roll." The musical is recommended for those age 13 and older. Showtimes are Friday night at 8pm and Saturday night at 7:30pm.     Junior Naturalist Program

    Lost River Cave's Junior Naturalist program season kicks off this weekend with the first installment of several planned for 2015. The Junior Naturalist program is designed for kids ages 6-12 who will meet every other month to discover, investigate and enjoy fun adventures in the outdoors. They will be learning about intricate ecosystems and crawling through cave passages to explore Kentucky's unique Karst environment.

    The first session this week will be Saturday, January 17 at 10am. Kids will discover connections in nature and learn how the water cycle, habitat and animal relationships keep nature thriving.
