Junior Naturalist Program at Lost River Cave
Lost River Cave's Junior Naturalist program is designed for children ages 6-12 who will meet every other month to discover, investigate and enjoy fun adventures in the outdoors. They'll be learning about the intricate wetland ecosystems and crawling through muddy cave passages to learn about Kentucky's unique karst environment. The nature center programs at Lost River Cave are constructed to give children the best possible hands-on experience in the outdoors.
This month, kids will get to know the trees and wildflowers in their community and how these living organisms use their habitats. Kids will Investigate invasive plants and how they interfere with their environment. As an added bonus from this month onward, children can officially broaden their nature experience by playing in the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom--a natural playground with an art studio, hand-on pollinator garden, make-and-do area and foxhole climb-through. Lost River Cave is working to become a nature center and the addition of this outdoor classroom creates another environment for children to receive more education about their environment.
