Kick off the new year immersing yourself in some local culture! The Capitol Arts Center galleries have special exhibits beginning this week that run throughout the winter season. Drop by the Capitol Arts Mezzanine Gallery anytime Jan. 7-April 30 to step back in time and enjoy the "History of the Capitol" exhibit. Community artists like Misha Ambrosia, C. David Jones, Teresa Christmas, Josh Mitcham, Megan Federico, Bart Britt, Joseph Southworth, Tim Phelps, Beth Reitmeyer, Andee Rudloff and more showcase their take on the Capitol's history.
If history isn't your thing, then stop by the exhibit at the Capitol Houchens Gallery from Jan. 9- Feb. 16 for a chance to see some locally-made furniture and home goods. If you're a train enthusiast, then mark your calendar for this show and sale! Come to the Historic Railpark & Train Museum for a day of family fun. Don't miss the 12th Annual sHOw Modular Railroad Club's Train Sale & Show. Bring the kids to teach them some local history about the L & N Depot from the Civil War, or maybe drop by to pick up a model locomotive for yourself.
