Industry Praises President Obama's Aug. 6 Housing Speech
The speech reflected the industry's principles of contributing to the long-term stability of the housing market and preserving the government guarantee in any restructured secondary mortgage market.
Watch the speech here. Read the statement from National Association of Realtors® President Gary Thomas here. As a follow up to the speech, the President responded to questions earlier today about housing during a live #AskObamaHousing online Twitter/video chat.

What You Should Know About Real Estate Sign Regulations
You may not realize it, but if you have a listing with more than one real estate sign posted in the yard, if you have an open house pointer on the corner of a busy intersection, or if you have any signs closer than ten feet from the street, then you might be guilty of breaking a law.
Local governments regulate the display and placement of signs. Because of this, before placing signs, you should remember to research a location's sign ordinances to avoid fines or the loss of your signs.
In the future, KCRAR plans to provide REALTORS® with a handy reference tool they can use to get a better idea of the sign ordinances within the larger municipalities in the area. Watch for more details.

Email Scam Alert
Please be aware of a recent email scam attempting to lure you into clicking on a link to view another agent's Google Drive documents.
The link doesn't actually take you to Google Drive, but to a hacker's site that will most likely attempt to install malicious malware onto your system, or steal your Google user name and password.
The best practice should always be to hover over the link with your mouse first and either in the pop-up, or the status bar at the bottom of your browser, view the URL to which the link will take you.
If an email appears suspicious, delete it, or check with the recipient for verification of its source before clicking on links.
Read this alert about recent Google Docs phishing email scams here.
