Kansas Government Affairs Committee News
 | At the Kansas Government Affairs committee meeting June 7, Luke Bell (top, right) recognized Joe Vaught's recent appointment to the Kansas Real Estate Commission. Joe is Chairman of the Kansas Governmental Affairs Committee. |
On June 7, the Kansas Government Affairs Committee met to discuss local Kansas issues as well as provide updates on the Kansas Association of REALTORS® (KAR) and national legislative news.
At the meeting, Luke Bell, Vice President of Governmental Affairs for the Kansas Association of REALTORS®, discussed everything from the outstanding attendance at the Kansas REALTORS® rally for the American Dream and a tax plan that rejects Gov. Brownback's proposal to eliminate mortgage interest and property deductions for Kansas homeowners, to Gov. Brownback's veto of a bill that would extend the life of a board that regulates home inspectors.
The bill, otherwise known as Senate Bill 37, would have renewed a law that is set to expire next month.
Because of the veto, home inspectors will no longer be regulated by the state on July 1.
