Damn the Cold and Discuss "Reign of Error" Jan. 29 at Heights High  

Jan Resseger, Reaching Heights Board Vice President, shares this update:


"Those of us discussing Diane Ravitch's Reign of Errorwill convene as scheduled Wed., Jan. 29 at 7:00 PM. Even if it's still very cold, and even if the schools are closed Wednesday, the Social Room at Cleveland Heights High School will be open and warm. Our conversation will go forward."

 

The school is located at 13263 Cedar Road,Cleveland Heights, OH 44118. Parking and entrance are on the Washington Blvd. (north) side of the school.

Spelling Bee Practice Round Feb. 26 at The Wine Spot: Bee is March 12


Join us Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 6-8 PM at the Wine Spot on Lee Rd. in Cleveland Heights for the 2nd Annual Reaching Heights Spelling Bee Practice Rounds. Registered spelling teams are eligible to win a Word Pass that will allow its lucky winner to opt out of spelling a word (and then have to spell the next word on the word list) in the first three rounds of the 23rd Annual Reaching Heights Adult Community Spelling Bee on March 12, 2014 at 7 PM at Cleveland Heights High School. A second Word Pass will be awarded to the team that raises the most money by March 12, and the third and final Word Pass will be awarded in a random drawing among all teams participating in the event. No team can use more than two passes at the Bee. 

 

At the Practice Round at The Wine Spot at 2271 Lee Road in Cleveland Heights, food will be available for purchase, as will beverages including soft drinks, beer and wine by the glass, and cocktails. 

 

To confirm that your team will participate in the Bee, please call Krista Hawthorne at the Reaching Heights office, 216.932.5110, or email krista@reachingheights.org. Space on the stage is limited, so act today. Proceeds from the Bee support excellent public education in the Cleveland Heights-University Heights public schools.

The 10th Annual Reaching Heights Summer Music Camp, to take place June 16-21, 2014, is now registering campers. More information, a link to our online registration form, and information about camp scholarships, can be found here. Reaching Heights Summer Music Camp is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture.

CH-UH Superintendent Dr. Nylajean McDaniel On Jan. 21, Nylajean McDaniel, CH-UH schools superintendent, gave what will be her only State of the Schools address, as she will retire in July. Highlights included updates on the high school renovation project, middle school consolidation, state report card and literacy instruction in the elementary schools.
