Update on President/CEO Search

Dear KBA Members-

I wanted to update everyone on where we are in the process of hiring our new President/CEO.

Following board approval, we officially posted the President/CEO opening on October 7th. If you haven't seen the posting, please click on our website www.kba.org and then click on the posting link to the job description on the front page. As noted, we'll be accepting applications through November 5th.

In addition to having the job posted on the front page of our website, we've also posted it on several industry job sites including: Broadcasting and Cable, RBR and TVBR, TV NewsCheck and Radio Ink among others, as-well-as association sites like NASBA (National Association of State Broadcast Associations) and KSAE (Kentucky Society of Association Executives). Our goal is to attract as many good applicants as possible.

The KBA Board authorized past chairman Rick McCue and myself to form a seven member search committee comprised of three current board members and four at-large members to review the applicants and to recommend three final candidates to the board. It's important to note that the search committee is not actually hiring our new President/CEO, but rather presenting the three finalists to the board for final selection.

Joining me on the search committee from our current board will be: Marti Hazel, WDRB-TV Vice-President and Director of Sales, and Mike Tarter, President and CEO of Forcht Broadcasting.

Our four at-large search committee members include: Ed Henson, President/Owner of Henson Media; Dale Thornhill, Vice President of Commonwealth Broadcasting; Bayard H. "Bud" Walters, Founder and President of the Cromwell Group, and; Julie Schmidt, Senior Director of External Affairs at Kentucky Educational Television.

It's important to note that all seven members of the search committee have served terms on the KBA Board of Directors, and that our committee includes four former chairmen and your chairman-elect. I know that I speak for the committee in saying that all of us have the KBA's best interest at heart, and will work diligently to find the three best candidates to recommend to the full board for final selection.

Our goal is to have our new President/CEO in place By January 1st, or, as shortly thereafter as possible.
That's an update on where we are in the process of hiring the next leader of our association. Thanks again to the search committee members for agreeing to serve, and for everyone who has offered input into this process.

Thank you.
Chris Aldridge
Chairman-Elect
