WHITE ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT AFTER 20 YEARS AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Frankfort, KY, September 10, 2015 - The Kentucky Broadcasters Association today announced that Gary White, President & CEO (Executive Director), will retire on December 31, 2015. White will step down from his current position immediately, but will remain as a Special Consultant to the Chairman and Executive Committee on an as-needed basis through 12/31/15, at which time he will retire from the Association. White's letter of retirement and terms thereof were accepted by the Board at a Special Called Meeting on August 25, 2015. Chris Winkle, current Chairman of the Board, will assume the role of Interim Director, until a search committee can be appointed and a new Executive Director named.

White issued the following statement when he announced his intentions to retire:

"My decision to leave this position is the hardest thing I have ever done.   I've had the wonderful pleasure of serving Kentucky broadcasters for over 20-years as head of the KBA. I brought 22 years of broadcasting experience to the table when I was hired to lead the organization. My background allowed me to understand the needs of broadcasters and work toward providing KBA members valuable services and programs for their benefit.

I must give credit, for the current success of the KBA, to all the chairmen and directors I have served under. They all allowed me to "run with the ball" in order to get where we are today. I was allowed to build the KBA headquarters, start a new scholarship program, grow the Public Education Partnership (PEP) program, establish extensive training programs, offer a FREE annual conference and most recently eliminating membership dues. There have many other accomplishments all of which have helped make the KBA a very respected Association in Kentucky and across the nation.
I will regret one thing about my decision and that is not having the day-to-day contact with KBA members. I hope to maintain the friendships and relationships created over two decades.

I'm leaving the organization because I feel the time is right. I have reached my personnel goals and commitment to the KBA and will leave the association in a very sound and strong financial condition. I just turned 60 years old and my health is excellent. I think it's time to play more golf, spend time with the grandkids and ride my Harley off in the sunset."

"On behalf of the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Membership, I would like to thank Gary for his years of service to the Association, and would like to congratulate him on his forthcoming retirement", Chris Winkle, Chairman of the Board.
