A familiar face will carry on a long standing legacy of local ownership and leadership. Ham Broadcasting Co, Inc., President D. J. Everett announced today that an application has been filed with the FCC in Washington to transfer ownership of the corporation to Beth Mann who has served as General Manager of the stations for 20 years. The stations involved are WKDZ-FM, WKDZ-AM, and 100.9 FM in Cadiz, and WHVO-AM and 96.5 in Hopkinsville. Everett is glad the stations will remain locally owned and operated and will continue their high level of service to their local communities. He said, "we actually planned to do this five years ago when I turned 62, but we were so busy serving our communities that we just didn't get around to it. We needed to get it done so when the first of this year came around we got on it. I am so happy that Beth will continue our traditions". Miss Mann says that under her ownership, absolutely nothing will change. "If we weren't making a public announcement, nobody would even know. We have developed a strong commitment to and involvement in our communities over the past several years and that will continue unchanged," she said. No personnel changes are anticipated. The stations being transferred are known nationwide as among America's finest. WKDZ-FM is recipient of two National Association of Broadcaster's Small Market Station of the Year Marconi Awards and an NAB Crystal Award for Community Service. WHVO and WKDZ have been recognized nationally for their news coverage, and have received awards and recognition from numerous local, state and national organizations for their efforts. The FCC transfer should be completed in about 60 days. |
