It's time to plan for 2016-17

In San Jos Unified, the winter season also is the time of year to plan for the upcoming school year. The school district has an array of events and resources available to guide current and new parents as they make decisions for the 2016-17 school year. Here's a quick checklist for you:
  • Parents of students entering the secondary level as well as parents of all new students are welcome to visit the school district's Enrollment Center as they begin the enrollment process.
  • Are you interested in the school district's three magnet schools? Check out this calendar, which offers you a number of events you can attend to learn more about the schools. There's also an orientation that interested parents need to attend. Be on the lookout for the day and time.
  • If you are the parent of a rising 6th grader, don't miss out on the school district's Middle School Information Night. Only in its second year, this event brings all of San Jos Unified's middle schools together under one roof. Come learn more about what makes each middle school special and which program is the best for the individual needs of your child. You are also welcome to visit the schools during events at their own campus.

Bachrodt Charter Academy students showcase their PBL projects

Bachrodt Charter Academy students recently invited guests to a series of events as they showcased their projects. Students at the Project Based Learning (PBL) school have been involved in collaboration, sustained inquiry, and revision as they progressed through their rigorous PBL units. Each grade level focused on a different topic. These are images of 2nd graders as they finalized their projects, "Saving the Monarchs." The driving question was, "How can we as global citizens help save Monarch butterflies?" Guests were part of the students' reflection process by providing feedback as part of the students' ongoing learning.
