November 2013
Greetings!

Over the last few months I've had the opportunity to meet with a lot of student-athletes and coaches to discuss expectations of the recruiting process. If you are serious about playing at the college level and want to receive a scholarship, then it's time to set yourself apart from the rest.

Featured Athlete
 HIGHLIGHTS
Devin Viramontes
Elk Grove, CA
SS/CB
5' 8", 180lbs
Class of 2014

This month's featured athlete is Devin Viramontes of Cosumnes Oaks (CO) High School in Elk Grove, CA.

As a senior, Devin is determined to lead his varsity squad, and he is doing so by example. His efforts in the classroom and on the field have proven to be one of Division I caliber. He's holding down a 3.5 GPA and is challenging himself to continue improving it.

"Devin is a D1 athlete and would be an asset to any team and coaching staff," said CO's defensive coach Juan Givens.

Not only is he one of the team's leading tacklers (77 total, 26 solo), but Devin is also one of Sierra Valley Football League's defensive leaders with four interceptions already this season.

Devin can play any position on the field including; Quarterback, Running Back, Receiver, Defensive Back, Rover, Linebacker, and Free Safety. Coach Givens continues, "He's just an assassin around the ball."

During CO's season opener Devin came out with a purpose and ended the night with 13 tackles. And at the team's last game against Liberty Ranch of Galt, CA on November 1, he showed no signs of slowing down with 9 carries on offense for 48 yards, two touchdowns (one a pick 6) and 17 tackles on defense, along with two pass deflections.

Student-athletes who consistently play with confidence, humility and tenacity like Devin are rare and special. We are very excited about the possibilities in Devin's future and will continue following him throughout the postseason.
