Track & Field
This month's Featured Athlete is Desiree Winters of Franklin High School in Elk Grove, CA.
The 2013 FHS track & field MVP was the only senior on the women's 4x100 relay team that conquered the Sac Joaquin Section Masters and ran a 2013 section best time of 47.75. Because of Winters' determination and dedication as a student first and athlete second, she is a first-class role model to her younger teammates, (Ifunanya Ezimora, Jorden O'Neal, and Chinyere Dike, who competed in the 100 & 200 at the CA State Meet earlier this month).
Winters began running track in the 5th grade, the same year she made her first appearance in the Junior Olympics. Her natural ability and hard work is the key to her continued success in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
Ready to take her passion for running to the next level, Winters is scheduled to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa this coming fall. We look forward to what the future holds for Desiree Winters.
