New Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Unit to Open at Ontario Shores this Fall
Children and adolescents will no longer need to travel out of country for treatment with the opening of a new 12-bed Eating Disorders Unit at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores). The Honourable Deb Matthews, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care was at Ontario Shores to announce funding for this first-of-its-kind program in Ontario.

Clara Inspires
Spend five minutes with Clara Hughes and you will be inspired by her energy, her passion and her story.

On March 21, Ontario Shores, along with the communities of Oshawa and Whitby, was privileged to be a focal point for Clara's Big Ride in connection with the Bell Let's Talk mental health initiative. Both Whitby and Oshawa were highlighted community stops for Clara on her 12,000 km ride across Canada.

The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence in the U.S. recognizes April as Alcohol Awareness Month. In Canada, the need to educate and inform around alcohol dependence also exists, including in the area of mental health care.

Interprofessional Grand Rounds
Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences invites you to attend Interprofessional Grand Rounds. The medical talks, intended for healthcare professionals, are scheduled Thursdays 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Ontario Shores lecture theatre.

Fourth Wednesday of each month
7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. 
Family Council Event
The Family Council hosts monthly meetings that are open to everyone in the community who have a loved one that has been affected by mental illness as well as family members, relatives, friends or significant others of current or former inpatients and outpatients of Ontario Shores.

Tuesday Evenings
7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. 
AA Open Discussion
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meets in the Conference Place every Tuesday evening at 7:00pm. Ontario Shores patients and the general public are welcome.
