Dementia Services Improving in Durham
Dr. Arlene Astell has built a career around identifying and addressing the individual needs of people living with dementia. Now, she will bring her expertise to Durham Region after being appointed the inaugural research chair in the community management of dementia by Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences.

Bell Lightbox Screening of Three Voices
Ontario Shores adolescent mental health documentary Three Voices: Discovery, Recovery, Hope made its Toronto debut this month at the TIFF Bell Lightbox Theatre. More than 200 students, health care professionals, agency directors and community members turned out to see the film on the big screen. Ontario Shores Board Chair Michael Nettleton brought greetings and Asante Haughton, one of the people highlighted in the film, was also in attendance. Representatives from the W. Garfield Weston Foundation were also present and were thanked by Ontario Shores Foundation for Mental Health Executive Director Neil Hannam for their $100,000 donation to support the Adolescent Mental Health Literacy Program.

Serena Ryder Live in Concert
Serena Ryder will be this year's guest artist for the Imagine Arts Festival hosted by Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences Thursday, October 10 at The Regent Theatre in Oshawa.

The Toronto-born singer-songwriter is an artist adored by fans, peers and critics alike due to her raw and earnest songwriting talent and electric live performances. She has received numerous accolades including four prestigious Juno Awards, as well as gold selling status for If Your Memory Serves You Well (2007) and Is It O.K. (2009). Ryder is reaching international stardom with the release of the Juno-winning Harmony, heralded as "the lushest, boldest album of her career" by The Globe and Mail. Ryder will perform favourites from across her career, including "Weak in the Knees" and the mega-hit "Stompa," which won Single of the Year at this year's Juno Awards. Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences invites you to attend Interprofessional Grand Rounds. The medical talks, intended for healthcare professionals, are scheduled Thursdays 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Ontario Shores lecture theatre.

Family Education Series
Ontario Shores' Social Workers and Family Council welcomes you to attend this and other information sessions in order to assist you and your loved one in navigating the services offered by Ontario Shores and community partners.

Fourth Wednesday of each month
7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Family Council Event
The Family Council hosts monthly meetings that are open to everyone in the community who have a loved one that has been affected by mental illness as well as family members, relatives, friends or significant others of current or former inpatients and outpatients of Ontario Shores.

Tuesday Evenings
7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
AA Open Discussion
Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meets in the Conference Place every Tuesday evening at 7:00pm. Ontario Shores patients and the general public are welcome.
