CI receives CIRM Stem Cell Research grant
for student internships and training
CI is pleased to announce that it has received a major grant from CIRM (California Institute for Regenerative Medicine) which will enable us to offer paid internship opportunities to students enrolled in the MS Biotechnology degree stem cell emphasis. The CIRM Board voted to approve $40.13 million for its Bridges to Stem Cell Research and Therapy Awards Program. CI will receive
$3,004,000 over a period of 5 years, which will provide stipends, tuition scholarships and travel funds to students who are accepted into the stem cell program. The award will support up to ten trainees a year for up to five years.
The Bridges program includes:
* Hands on paid research internships
* Training and education in all aspects of stem cell research
* Direct patient engagement and outreach activities engaging California's diverse communities

To better serve our students, CI's BA Psychology and BS Business degree completion programs will move to CI's Goleta campus effective Fall 2016.
The Goleta campus is fully staffed and offers convenient free parking seven days a week, student lounge area, and access to printers and copiers.

Dealing With Difficult Team Members
People often contribute to team dysfunction without being aware of their negative behavior, or knowing how to address these behaviors in others. Dealing with difficult people starts with identifying disruptive actions, understanding the dynamics and stages of group reactions, and addressing issues with candor and tact.
At the completion of this module, participants will be able to:
- Recognize behaviors that disrupt team effectiveness
- Examine the dynamics of team dysfunction
- Commit to principles for maintaining productive team relationships
- Follow a behavior change process for difficult team members

Saalex offers full life cycle Program Management, maintaining strict controls for performance and budget. It has a strong presence at the China Lake Range and Point Mugu Range complexes - with responsibility for test and evaluation operations. Headquartered in Camarillo, Saalex has offices/work sites in California, Florida, Georgia,Hawaii and Washington.
Mack provides executive oversight and guidance for Saalex's strategic growth and tactical initiatives.
Previously, he had multi-year experience in the U.S. Navy and Senior Technology management positions. He holds a BS in Business Management from Webster International University and completed Executive Management programs at several other universities. He is on the boards of Boys & Girls Club of Oxnard/Port Hueneme, United Way of Ventura County and the Brevard Workforce Development Board.
