CI earns its first re-accreditation from WASC

CI has been re-accredited for nine years by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The WASC visiting team applauded CI on its creativity, ingenuity and tenacity in sustaining quality educational and co-curricular results for their students.

"We received commendations for the passion we have for our mission, our commitment to student success and our focus on regional issues among many other highlights," said CI President Richard R. Rush. "I am proud of our students, faculty, staff and administration, who all came forward to let WASC officials know about our exceptional campus." read more

Dinner to be catered

CSU Channel Islands Foundation and Rabobank presents

CHRIS BOTTI
Live in Concert

Lindsay German, BS Business '08,MBA '11

We are excited to announce Main Course California as the caterer for the President's Concert VIP Reception Dinner. Main Course is special to us because Lindsay German, Chief of Operations and part owner, is an alumna of CSU Channel Islands (CI). Lindsay, a self-proclaimed foodie, graduated twice from CI. First with a Bachelors in Business in '08 and then with a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) in '11. Main Course also catered CI Extended University's first MBA mixer, which was a huge hit.

The President's VIP reception, dinner and concert will be held Saturday, Sept. 19, at The Libbey Bowl in Ojai. Please join us for an intimate concert under the stars featuring Grammy Award-winning trumpeter, Chris Botti. Funds raised by this event will strengthen academic programs and create opportunities for CSU Channel Islands students. You can help make a difference!

Strong turnout at Pest Control Adviser Certificate meeting

Agricultural business leaders of Ventura County turned out in force to show support for CI's new Pest Control Adviser Certificate, the first program in agriculture to be offered by the university.

The Ag community was well represented at this first public meeting held July 30 to announce the program's start. Included were representatives of the Ventura County Ag Commission, The California Strawberry Commission and other local Ag companies, many of whom were interested in providing internship opportunities to CI students.

Future events related to the PCA Certificate will be held at CI this Fall. For information, contact Andrew Conley at

CI associate professor of Biology Ruben Alarcon explains the Pest Control Adviser certificate program.

Almost 50 members of the agricultural community turned out for the presentation.
