MBA Students Explore Business and Culture in China
In April, a group of 19 MBA students took part in a10-day Study Tour to China. Accompanied by professors John Lu and Susan Andrejewski, they experienced Shanghai and Beijing and visited a number of companies while exploring the cultural and economic landscape of China.
The tour provided rich experiences and insights as students learned about Chinese culture and business first-hand and were exposed to the factors powering the country's unparalleled economic growth as well as the challenges faced in doing business there. According to Dr. Andrejwski, "The trip was an amazing experience for students to gain a better understanding of economic and business issues facing modern China."
Since 1979, when China instituted economic reforms and established "special economic zones" open to foreign investment, the country has transitioned away from central planning to a market-driven economy. Its economic growth is unparalleled in history and has significantly impacted the world economy.
