 Biomedical Engineering Students to Present Posters at National Conference CSU Channel Islands students from the Masters Program in Biotechnology, Biomedical Engineering emphasis, will present two posters at the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS) November 10 - 13 in Atlanta. The work was completed during BME 501, 502 courses specific to the biomedical engineering track of MS in Biotechnology. Armaun Emani, Jesus Fajardo, Mai Nguyen, Takahiro Watanabe, Elaheh Asghari, Surbhi Dutta, Arthela Osorio, and Tom Velasco presented the " Impact of Fibroblast Growth Factor on Mesenchymal Stem Cell Osteogenic Differentiation and Migration." The investigation explores the effects of basic Fibroblast Growth Factor (bFGF) on mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) differentiation into osteoblasts and migration. Osteoblasts aid in healing of bone fractures and help increase recovery time in hip/joint replacement patients.
