Can't to Can - Kiddo Accomplishments
  • One of our early childhood kiddos who came to us only 4 months ago unable to walk has progressed as far as not even needing his walker to buzz through the Firefly hallways. We are so proud of him and want to give a thanks to those teachers that made this possible! What an accomplishment, keep up the hard work!
  •  When I first met this student 11 months ago he did not attend to multi-step instructions, nor would he tolerate staff members getting close to him on the playground. He also did not engage in traditional playground "play" but instead would sit in the woodchips by himself. The other day I was swinging and yelled across the playground, "Come over here and swing next to me!" He turned, looked at me, walked across the playground and sat down on the swing next to me! Now that is truly an accomplishment!!
  • Two students in the butterfly classroom are learning how to ask "What's that?" when they encounter something unfamiliar to get information about the new object and have started to do this independently.
  • A student has been using his iPad to communicate really well.  Today he used his iPad PECS to say "I need something.  A kiss.  Thank you!"

Western Slope Behavioral Services

Up-coming Mini Camp for Parents

Thank You Alpine Bank

Alpine Bank just committed $1,000 to Firefly's Western Slope Behavior Services.  The gift will be utilized to help fund the upcoming PARENT'S MINI CAMP.   This exciting, new program is intended to provide parents an opportunity to learn additional skills they can use at home with their child.  Our focus will be to reach out to underserved families and thus give them a chance to learn and have tools they can use at home.  We'd essentially be training them in the basics of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).   The message will be "This is how you do it."   This program will enable Firefly's Western Slope Behavior Services to work with more families, generate a positive impact, and meet one of our objectives which is to help underserved families on the western slope.

Additionally, Alpine Bank has offered to produce a short commercial about Firefly and our efforts on the western slope.

Not only do we want to thank Alpine Bank for this very special and important gift of support but also parent and Volunteer Advisory Board Member, Kyle Rush, for this very important contribution!
